How much data for 24/7 internet tv?

Lies, I get 1080 constantly on a 4mb line with crystalweb, get a trial account, see for yourself

Netflix 1080P starts at 4300kbps so it's impossible with a line syncing at 4096kbps.

If i upgrade with Mweb(ISP) it will only take about 10 -20 mins
but what about telkom(line)?

Do they need to put in a new line if i upgrade from 2mb to 4mb, or is it already there?

Up to 72 hours but it's usually the same day, it's just a "switch" Telkom flips on their side.

Hold it, I've got a 4mb line, line syncs at 5mb though as from last month. You don't need a 10mb line...

See now that's possible, you said you can get 1080P on a 4Mbps line not 5Mbps.

For starters, you have a 5mb but do you get a constant 500kbps down rate?, yes if you lucky and live very close to the exchange your 4/5 mb line might pump out enough to get there, then you might be lucky to get 1080p but it wont be constant 1080p, I just barely break the 720p barrier on my 4mb connection but its not constant. I said 10-12 mb because you will have a constant 800kbps + down rate which is more than the minimum 0.50Mbps required to stream Full HD on netflix...its all on the netflix FAQ'S page :)

Been with Mweb uncapped since they started. Never had an even minor problem. Kids visit from UK they download all day for future viewing.
Never even seen my usage figures
R199.00 well spent.

R199? That's a standard 2Mbps uncapped account with a throttling threshold of 70GB.

I find YouTube 4k streams just fine on a 20mbps VDSL line. Have not tried Netflix yet though as the sub costs more.

Hi everyone.
Decided to upgrade my ADSL and use the internet instead of DSTV.
Before I do, i would like to ask a few questions before getting into something i know nothing about
How much data would be enough to stream 720p 24/7?
What bandwidth speed is fine without buffering and all that...
And for anyone who already does this.. how has this been so far?

Any help is appreciated:D
With Netflix we used 350gig just in a month. This is streaming in HD.

I get a constant 1080 stream, not sure how I can prove this? Even on a fnb uncapped 4mb account (limited to 4mb), I got 720, no issues.

Thanks for replies, of course not 24/7, was just curious;)
How much data for streaming 6hrs a day @ 720p?

I want to get 4mb line(telkom)
and 4mb premium uncapped(mweb)
Should have 400gb a month before throttling....

I used 100GB a month on my 1MBps(premium uncapped)
So is 300GB for 6hrs a day @ 720p enough??

4Meg premium should be perfect for you.

I will highly advise you do not go to Mweb....

I don't want another unhappy formatee

Go to a real proper honest none sketch none shark ISP

My recommendation will be

Vox - if you have the money
Web Africa if you want in between, their support is idiotic thou.
Afrihost if you believe in second changes.

Afrihost do the uncapped after hours thing now I see which offers value, provided their Internet works...

Why do we have to do this every time? Most of the people complaining about MWEB got Standard uncapped and tried to download the internet. There's nothing wrong with them as an ISP. Just choose the right package.

They should be able to upgrade while you wait over the phone.

They fcked over everyone with outright lies and sketchy business practices praying on old capped folks.

There are countless threads about it including the law suit.

Mweb is the same moral character as OpenWeb
