Friend of mine bought himself a new one and with the extras it was R309k. Very stupid if you ask me.

My friend bought a demo GTi, 12000kms, DSG, Sunroof, Xenons, 18" Mags for 280K last year. You could probably get it cheaper in 2009, especially taking into account the current market situation.
When will VWSA launch the GOLF 6 GTi?
Yeah, just wait about two years and pick it up for less than half that amount.
I've been given a Quote for R283 000 brand new Golf 5 Gti Manual
However I still think that this is a bit too much, considering that new Golf will be arriving late this year.

All car prices are up, 1 - series and ST included.
eish.. please if i see another GTI on the road ill tear my eye's out, i swear every tom dick and thembi has one, there way to common, why don't you get a faster hatch? Astra Opc, Focus ST, or tiny bit more expensive Audi S3 or Megane RS R26r or Seat Leon F/R or a nice 2nd hand Bmw 130. there all much faster than GTi and some a bit cheaper to.. just my 2 cents

you can get the "new" facelifted ST, with leather recaro trim and appearance pack, and sunroof.
much better deal in my opinion.
thats the 3 door though. but its faster and less common, and there won't be a new model out end of this year i don't think ?

I cant find an Astra OPC with good millage(<25000km), as for Focus ST I would only buy it if I had a spare car with a smaller engine...its too heavy on consumption and doesnt have Xeneon lights
Audi S3 is way too expensive unless u guys know someone whose selling them for R283 000. As for Seat last time I heard was that they are closing all or most of their branches in SA due to bad sales.
But my question again is....do u guys think I can find a better deal then R283 000 for brand new Golf 5 GTI with Sunroof, Multi function S/W and Xeneon Lights?
A few dealers have GTI's on special. One had a brand new GTI DSG with SR, Xenons and iPod prep for R289k OTR (On The Road), meaning all other costs included. The manual was R275k if I'm not mistaken. Phone around and you'll probably find a good deal because they have to sell all 5's before the 6 is launched.
What about Megane Sport R26 there much cheaper than GTI much faster, you get Recaro seats (like RS4) Xeons 169kw and panoramic roof 18" wheels and a car with the best handling in it's class. It did the Nürburgring in 8 min, i mean that's round porsche territory
and most of them on autotrader are demo's with 10000km for R220,000

i really dont get why everyone wants a GTi?? there are better options out there!
also, why the desperate need for Xenon lights? all you are goin to acheive is blind the guy driving towards you...

Whats better?
The ST? It looks like a hearse, I wouldnt buy one. Not my style.
The OPC? Its fast, bad handling, not an all round package like the GTi.
The Megane? Its French, its ugly.
Besides all the above lose value much faster than the Gti!
Xenons are there for the look!, oh and its easier for the eyes and stuff.
