Post how much you've got from Mweb :):D

Since half way through August 2008 (about 7 months)

752.50GB Downloaded
229.90GB Uploaded

Total: 982.4

Thats with this month :D

(my best was 176.72GB total in one month)

And ppl wonder why its coming to a end. Can't image SAIX has been providing these Gigs to Mweb for mhala.

Actually M-web said that the total number of gigs being used does not even reach their allotment for every ADSL subscriber.

Think about it. Telkom gives M-Web 1 international and 10 local gives for every subscriber.

Imagine M-Web have 100,000 ADSL subscribers. That is 1,000,000 local Gigs they have. Not all of those guys know how to use the local or what to use it on. It would take 10% (10,000) of the subscribers using 100 Gigs a month on local, tto reach their 1,000,000. Maybe one percent are using the local heavily... 500 to 700 Gigs a month. It still comes nowhere near their allowance of local that they are given every month by Telkom. I can't imagine that so many are using that much local.

M-Web have not lost any money at all... in fact they are coining it big time.

Thats not how SAIX's wholesale billing model works, you pay per Gig for blended & local (obviously at each's respective rate).

don't tell me that... tell that to M-Web. That is what they said.

... and don't forget that M-Web is now an IECNS license holder... they might have access to local gigs that they don't have to buy from Telkom. They can even (and have started to) build their own network.

LOL its all good and well, just don't come crying to the rest of us when the paw paw hits the fan one day and you okes need to cough up for all the bandwith that you abused, even though mweb has unlimited bandwith available, this is africa we live in, expect the unexpected :p

I just don't understand this. To me it sounds like people are downloading for the sake of downloading.

in other words you have no idea what to do with your local cap? or how to use it?

Of course some people are but is there anything necessarily wrong with that.

Overseas the ISP would just boot them off. Here "abusers" are made out to be the villains responsible for products being withdrawn.

Im probably gonna get flamed for this :D

I think that people that simply download for the sake of downloading need a swift kick in the head!

dont get me wrong, if you wanna get stuff that you want (wanna watch, play, jerk off to.. wateva!) then that is fine, but what is the point of filling hard drive afer hard drive with stuff that you dont specifically need?

I have uncapped express and I download a fair amount, about 200GB a month, but its all series I watch and the rest is for friends who ask nicely for me to download stuff for them...

I mean if this effects the decisions that ISP's make because of abusers, then the above is valid... if its not, then I guess Im wasting my own time!! lol

well, that would be my question... how do you know anybody is doing this? I also think it would be a waste, but personally... I only download what I am going to use and share. I would imagine the majority of other guys do the same. demand drives the downloads. Ask anyone on this board, I am quite willing to share and pass on to those who don't have access.

Same with me, but on the MWEB account. And it all adds up.
I average about between 150GB and 225GB a month.
