I also don't appreciate voice notes on whatsapp, I work in an open plan and don't want to dig out earphones or find a secluded spot just to listen to such...

Voice notes...no man. Those I never listen to. I don't consider voice notes and group messages as urgent. It's also very seldom that I don't immediately exit a group with more than 10 people in it (eg. community groups, neighborhood watch, etc etc. Screw that kack).

My ex and her former friend used voice notes to argue and call each other names. I guess with phone calls neither would let the other get a chance to talk.

Not fond of them either but you can just lift your phone to your ear and they'll play through the earpiece.

I don't do it often but from what I recall you press play and just raise it up to your ear.

Ah, I see now, thanks, one must be quick enough and it detects that it's by your ear, stops playing when it leaves ear area.

I am in SA, and my 95 year-old ou toppie lives in Devon, UK. My Mom is only a year younger than my Dad. They live on their own in a tiny village in Devon. We chat almost daily via skype.
I am unlikely to ever see them again in person, so Skype is great to keep in contact
