This happened twice at about 4am and seeing as it's the first time I've experienced it, I thought I'd get some info from here of course :D Anyway, I have Sygate Personal Firewall and both alerts were this:

Security Type: Port Scan - Severity: Minor - Direction: Incoming

1) "Somebody is scanning your computer.
Your computer's TCP ports:
7212, 6588, 8000, 50050 and 808 have been scanned from 118.161.241.109."

2) "Somebody is scanning your computer.
Your computer's TCP ports:
80, 3128, 8080, 1080 and 7212 have been scanned from 118.161.241.109."

So ....... should I start freaking out or relax because the firewall caught it? And what can I do to ensure it doesn't happen again (if possible). Muchos appreciatos for any info as always :D

You've reached Grandmaster status and haven't had any port scan alerts before? Impressive :D

Seriously though... It's just a port scan for popular ports:
Port 80: http
Port 3128: Squid cache
Port 8080: tomcat
Port 1080: SOCKS
Port 7212: Ghostsurf

Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone. So it seems like someone looking for mischief :p

Happens all the time - Relax.
Unless you know who it is, no, nothing you can do about it.

I still have Sygate at home, and it's done a sterling job over the years on our miserable dial up connection.

However, I think it's time for me to upgrade the firewall to Comodo. Comodo is really crazy with features, but in today's insecure world, you need all you can get I guess.

Now just to find the time to do it lol.

it is quite a common thing, it's impressive you haven't noticed it until now :D

The IP address comes from Taipei, Taiwan. Nothing too serious.
