How to clean LCD Screen

You can buy special alcohol cleaning tissues. There pricey (R50 for 20) but do a good job (bought some at a flea market for R5 for 30 but their junk).

Else, you can get lens cleaner from an optometrist. Not so sure what they cost as I had a sample.

I see cleaning kits for R70-R100 at PnP for plasmas, I'm not sure if they work. But they have a nice dusting brush.

If you do not have access to this stuff and really need to clean, then first dust off with a light dry clean cloth (do not rub as dirt is abrasive). Then using new cotton wool or soft tissue, clean with water. Never ever use any cleaning materials and do not let a cloth nearby your screen that was ever used to clean something.

Ammonia is the devil, it eats through the protective layer of your screen and will make it dull after a while.
 
I saw something funny on youtube once just as I had taken a sip of tea.... half my LCD had tea stains. I tried the pure alcohol and it didn't work at all, didn't remove even some of the smudges.
I've always used mr min to clean my bike with and decided to give the LCD a go, Cleaned it better than new!! It remove every little smudge and tea stain with no effort. Just be sure to use a supersoft cloth so it doesn't scratch the LCD while you clean it.

Mr Min is the most amazing cleaning application. It is just as effective as benzene in removing stickers too (those anoying price-tag ones you find on your new shiny toy). Learnt this in my retails days when we needed to remove them for clients.

Mr Min does not contain any silicon so it safe to use on surface areas with buttons (keyboards, TVs, PCs). This is important as the silicon actually seals the contacts of switches.

But be very careful of "Mr Min" clones like Zeb (oven cleaner) or Mr Muscle (oven cleaner), that stuff will eat through screen (and hands).

Highly dangerous chemical. Do not use.
 
Well I use a lint free cloth to clean my 2232. The monitor came with a small cloth which I wet with warm water, wipe screen and then use lint free cloth to dry it. The result is a clean, mark free screen :)
 
If the Samsung monitor in this post is a syncmaster T260/T240/T220, you buy a lcd/screen cleaning cloth from pick and pay/incredible that'll clean it.

If its a stain use that same cloth with some water.

If however you have one of those glossy monitors, you'll never get it clean. My old HP 22" was never completely clean, I sold it to a buddy of mine and he bought those expensive alcohol wipes. It evaporated but it left marks :D:rolleyes:

Told him to use a damp onderbroek :D (damp with water, mind you), to get rid of the mess those wipes left. You can only get those montiors 96% clean. Everything leaves behind wipe marks/microfibres.

Yea I got T220, Thnx for the replys guys im gona try find that Cloth from PnP, yet though one came with the monitor :confused: lols
 
Just cleaned my LCD with a generic Pick 'n Pay "Ocean Fresh Window & Shiny Surface Cleaner" and it worked like a charm
 
Philips makes a special spray on non drip cleaner specificly for LCD screens it costs about R200 damn that stuff is awesome - it creates micro-film on the screen which keeps the grime off.
I use it on my 3 screens without issue.
 
How to clean a Lcd?

Anyone know of a good way to clean a lcd monitor.What product should i use that won't damage it?
 
If you read all of the above, you should get a good idea of how to clean it...
