How to connect a 2nd TV to a HD PVR 2P decoder?

Morning all,

I have my main TV connected to a HD PVR 2P decoder via an HDMI cable. I would like to add a second TV in the bedroom. I don't want duel view or extra view or anything like that, I simply want DSTV on the bedroom TV. I will change the channels via IR booster. i'm also not worried about PVR.

Can this be done and how?

You will have to run a coax cable from your decoder, to the TV in the bedroom. You can change channels on the bedroom TV by using the TV Link adaptor that should be installed in-line with the coax, and the sensor placed near the bedroom TV ... this changes the channel on the decoder. This is the set-up I have. I don't think you will have HD quality on the bedroom TV using coax, but the picture is fine for a bedroom TV

Thanks for that. The problem I have is that the house we just moved into has TV connections in all the rooms, which is great, but I can't figure it out. The lounge has an opening in the wall with about 3 or 4 coax cables sticking out of it (one from each room with a TV connection). Last night I connected the TV in the room to the TV connection in the wall via coax, and one of the random coax cables to the decoder. I tried all of the coax cables coming out of the wall but no joy. My TV in the room was set to "TV", not HDMI or any of the others. I scanned as if I'm tuning the channels as well but I'm not winning. Sorry, I'm a noob....

You need 2 lnb connections for the pvr and then most likely 1 cable goes to all the tv's in the other rooms.(there is probably a splitter in the roof to split that cable into all the rooms)

The back of my decoder looks exactly like this. I use HDMI to connect to the Tv so both connectors on the left of the picture is open.

I would start with the process of elimination:

1. Connect a short coaxial from the pvr to the main tv - this is to ensure a signal is being sent from the pvr to a tv
2. (If possible) bring the bedroom tv to PVR and using the short coaxial see if the signal is being shown on the bedroom tv - This will ensure your room tv is able to display the pvr signal
3. After the above to is successful then the remaining possibility is the cable from the pvr to the bedroom - here i suggest you trace the cable to see if there is any break in the line.
