I am always looking of ways to save space or run an optimal device, so I started this thread to see what other suggestions may be out there to save on space and run an efficient device.

Root , install Titanium Backup, Remove Bloatware . For Faster performance you can enable ART instead of Dalvik

Go into application manager under settings and remove unneeded apps and disable those you dont want to have running.

provided you have rooted your android, use a lil program called rootappdelete. it comes in at under 4mb. and it will tell you what pre-installed programs are safe to remove too.

eg kernel (NO TOUCH) vs stupid fitness program (safe to remove)

The Kernel isn't a program? It cant be Removed outside of Recovery

Definitely agreed with TBup options. as well as use Greenify and now the Xposed framework, which does not require root. *WIN*

Deleting apps sometimes leaves leftover files that can potentially use up a lot of space on your device.

I recovered about 1.5gb off my android recently using DiskUsage.
Really cool graphical interface, you should check it out.

I have a Galaxy S2, and well... I never have space problems. I think space issues are more of an older phones thing.

On my HTC Desire I bought a 32 gig sd card. So whenever I could, I moved apps to that.

I do find sometimes with the N7, I have a few space constraints, but this thread is intended for all devices with or without expandable storage. I have a 32Gb S3 with a 64Gb Sd Card (overkill) I know.

Delete your pron ;)

Older android devices with less than 1gb ram are an issue, if you have 1gb or more, wouldnt sweat it. Storage ram is usually not an issue, unless you have a 16gb device which does not have an external micro sd slot. The android system uses at least 3 gb of that 16g, does not leave much space for movies / music etc...

My advice is to take note of your phone / tablet spec on purchasing the device and not have to worry about storage space later...
