How To Get Youtube on Local Cap!

Hello,

I just posted this in another thread thinking that everyone knew this

Anyway, a few weeks ago i was capped and i noticed that i google.co.za can still be accessed after you have been capped (image also but no gmail or anything else) from the local google.co.za you can do searches and return results that are from international webpages but you cant access them...

HOWEVER!

If you are to search youtube.com and then enter it via the google local search you are able to get in and watch video!! ( i dont think uploading or logging in works) but if you try go directly to youtube.com in your broswer and you are capped, you will simply time out...


If you dont want to keep having to search via google to get onto youtube you only have to make a bookmark with the following which will do it automatically...

Sometimes (very seldom) you will recieve an error that it couldnt play, to fix this all you have to do is refresh the webpage.
This worked 100% on my previous DO Broadband account but i am unalbe to test it again atm becuase i am now on uncapped :) You can also get onto youtube using local with Pada's Thread on Forcing websites to RSA Ip Adress'es...

Hey man...I hate to break this to you...but this is kinda' "old news" already. But hey, maybe there are people out there that didn't know...and do now. So there you have it.

yes, like i said i thought everyone knew but i have come across a few people who didnt so i just thought i would post this..

That link & method that you provided isn't any different than accessing www.youtube.com directly...

The only possible reason that I see why you're trick might work is because the YT homepage links to http://csi.gstatic.com/csi?v=2&s=youtube&action=<more parameters here> which isn't hosted locally by default.

Of course if you were to use my or Fragtion's hosts file modification, you would be able to access both YT homepage and videos on local cap without having to go through another website.

Synergy: youtube.co.za reports the following NON-local IP addresses on the SAIX, Google, iAfrica & Mweb DNS servers: 74.125.127.100, 74.125.45.100 & 74.125.67.100

So to answer your question: simply because a website's hostname ends with .co.za doesn't mean that it's local!
 
Lol that I know, but a while back it was available local only.

yeah im one of them.... It doesnt help though because iv only got international
 
Synergy: the problem is that the DNS servers continuously switch between reporting local & international IP addresses, which is why you would want to force it to the local ones :)
 
One doesn't need to modify any hosts file .... just go to YouTube direct and watch. If a video won't play, just refresh until it does.
