I just leave the keys to the neighbour's house hanging on my front door…
 
A small yappy indoor dog and a shotgun. You really don't need much more than that.

Also an area designated as a panic room. A bathroom with a solid door and couple of dead bolts on the inside will do the trick.
 
Vote the DA in so we can get a better police department that is worthy of wearing the uniform because most aren't.
Get the legal system fixed and increased prison sentences.

Why must I spend a fotrune to protect myself, family and assets and still have to pay huge taxes?
 
Have this idea I want to implement. Ammonia gas canister with automatic switch, connected to a gas sprinkler type system throughout the house. Get into panic room, lock yourself in, put on mask on my kids and flood the house with toxic ammonia gas.

Till they all die and you get sent to prison for 10yrs, oh the horrible irony.
 
The amount spent on security for my home is ridiculous. Crime is the only reason I'd ever leave SA - even with the ANC around I otherwise love this place. CCTV, outdoor beams, Atlas, massive walls, electric fencing, window bars, fortifying the house from early evening etc. seriously sucks.

I was recently overseas in a town in an EU country. The local newspaper reported that home-owners have to get into the habit of locking their front doors because crime has increased. A gang was bust going around trying to open the front-door of apartments to see if anyone is home and then running out with TV's and DVDP's. They tried the front-door of one house and the people were at home, who promptly called the police that later found and arrested the criminals.
 
got most of this already, also automated my home via cellphone, switching lights on/off opening gates all via cell, if the gate open by itself/forced it will sms me, if house house alarm is activated at least three people will know about it plus armed security
 
Seeing so many people have spent lots on security.

One thing is for sure, it pays to run a security business in this country.

My neighbor next door has his house bolted up real tight like Fort Knox. Last year they just bypassed all that and pulled the roof tiles off. Got in that way.
