Hi all. I hope you can help me.

I'm trying to help my parents who are hundreds om kms from me.
They have a Mi Box (don't know the model) and have used it from streaming Netflix and YouTube.
Yesterday, they managed to disconnect the Mi Box from the router. At a stage they thought the internet is off and I think this is where the trouble began. I tried to help over the phone but I do not have any knowledge of this box. We have established that they have internet up to the router and even ran a speedtest on their phones. So they do have internet.
When they going to the WiBox settings, Wireless network, their home's network is not listed. I quickly watched some videos and on all of them they make use of an Android phone to do the setup. Both my parents have iPhones.
Please advise what to do to get this box online again?

Thanks very much.

ok so I'm also a bit on the warm side, but have they tried to reboot the mi box? Have they tried to reset the wifi settings,?
Iirc the me mi box runs standard android tv so its just a matter of going to settings and choosing the correct options.

Got flu yesterday, so on medication, so cannot drink.

Unfortunately, I am on Android, so cannot give advice.

Can they do screenshots?

You can post here and people can give the appropriate advice.

Anyway, this is my mi home screen

Go to top right to the settings icon:

Bit dronk already to investigate the situation ... will look into it tomorrow if I remember.

Where in SA are said parents ?

i take it a factory reset is out of the question ?
They're in George.
They tried factory reset but keep hanging on synching data with Google. Don't get further than that.

How does one reset the wifi settings? This will definitely help a lot.

As per my request above, ask them to take pictures, and send them to you. You upload, we can then possibly assist.

Giving advice right now is like shooting in the dark.

Usually, when you factory reset any Android TV / Google TV streaming box, the FIRST thing you have to do is connect it to a wi-fi network (or a wired connection if the device has a LAN port) when it prompts you to do so, then enter your Google (GMAIL) account details & password, then it should be connected to the internet and allow you to setup all your default streaming app accounts (DSTV, Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, etc) with their various subscription account details - YouTube & YouTube Music are directly linked to the Google account, so they should work immediately without the need for any additional account details...

You will then also have access to the Google Play Store to download any additional apps as well...

With only iPhone, setup, for them is out of the question. As manual setup is rather long winded. Factory reset and setup is to be avoided.

Avoid factory reset as you will have to reload any apps that are not standard, and login to accounts.
