How unsafe is cellular radiation really?

The mere fact that this keeps on being brought up suggests to me that it is a danger... The amount of money that telecoms would have thrown at studies to disprove the risks and still the speculation continues...???

Radiation of any kind is not good for humans
electromagnetic or any kind . no one can say for sure the effects of this on humans or the earth
we all know microwave ovens cook . 2W cell phone 650W microwave. still radiation.
IMHO i dont think it is good for humans but that is my opinion
I know the many studies undertaken for and against cell radiation

The alcohol, smoking and motor industries seems to doing ok. Cellphones are essential to many, cancer risks won't deter them.

Cellphones have been around since the early 90s. Is there any concrete evidence to suggest a health risk, such as an increase cancer aliments from cellphone usage. There have merely been studies upon studies, etc. I would like to see someone say that cancer is on the increase due to cellphone usage.

We are all dieing anyways.. They can stop with all the green peace scare tactics!

Speculation continuing is not proof or even present reasonable doubt about the issue.

  • Barak Obama publically presented his birth certificate. There are still people that claim it is a forgery.
  • The ClimateGate thing keeps on being used to discredit AGW. Even though every investigation into it has cleared the scientists in question, as well as their data.
  • All the claims about vaccines causing autism have either been refuted or retracted as erroneous. Still, it is being repeated again and again in the media in the US and UK.

I'm not even going to go into the old consiracy theories (moon landing, JFK assassination, etc in this).

Living in itself is a dangerous exercise!

In any case, in SA your chances of being killed in a traffic accident or at the hand of a murderer are much higher than being killed by your cell phone.

Sending text messages or browsing while driving are likelier to kill you than driving by the towers while you're holding it to your ear yapping away.

The fact that activities that can cause circadian disruption (such as shiftwork or studying through the night) is rated a higher risk than EMR really puts it into context.

Just to clarify - not all radiation is the same. Specifically, Ionizing radiation is far more harmful than http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-ionizing radiation in general.

The first can knock electrons off atoms, causing all sorts of weird things to happen, and is generally what people think of when they think "radiation". The second, is like what is used in your microwave, and pretty much "just" heats things.

ok so too much of anything will kill you.

The mere fact that people continue to think we havent been to the moon yet suggests to me that we have in actual fact not been there...

lol mostly yes, some of it was faked.

The 'speculation' continues because most people don't bother to read the studies and get taken in by alarmists who well know they can make any arbitrary claim and no-one is actually going to read the studies to check their claims.

All the studies are on-line, so there's no excuse other than not bothering.

There's plenty of bs on-line too, so how do you know which studies is legit?

Speculation continues because it is much more spectacular than the truth. Additionally speculation makes no reliance on knowledge of the speculator. Come to think of it, total lack of understanding of the subject upon which one is speculating is a distinct advantage.
