Oh to answer the OP's question, my wife has this GFX card on her laptop. Games run okay at low settings but that is it.
Post the make and model.

Same as with Nvidia's Titan, great piece of technology, but the hype sorta died down nowThe thing with Nvidia's top shelf cards is, they're generally the fastest cards on the market, but they charge an insane premium for it, out of whack with their real performance. You only get those cards to brag; certainly not with a view to longevity.

So if you've got a view to maximising your long term gaming ability, it would simply be wiser to scale down to the notch below. But, it's your money and I wouldn't turn down a 780ti.
Well If my GTX 460 got me this far (it can still play latest games on high) imagine how long a GTX780Ti will last.
Now it sounds like you're looking for justification as you've already made up your mind.
I'm sorry, but you won't find that here.
The 290X is the better buy.
I am sorry but I am with chevron with this, we have given you many option's but you just shoot them down one by one. We want to help you but you got the 780ti stuck in your head. I mean like I said u can get a 680 for 4K secondhand its a wonderful card if you don't want R290x and after a few years just resell the 680 and get a 780 secondhand.
