How would you fix the SABC?

Privatise it and make any licensing fees the responsibility of the broadcaster, not the viewer/listener.
 
Not interested to fix it. I will shut it down and listen to LM Radio instead. TV wise E News is far superior and relevant.
 
I would close it down. I do not see why they are there - just to spend taxpayers money on thieving managers and then expect the people to pay a license for a TV , even if you do not watch tv. TV as we know it is outdated. Change SABC programs to pay as you watch -
 
I shall Fire everybody without the correct degrees and experience. I shall redo all salaries to a normal schedule. Only buy or lease the best movies and programs. Start a free phone-in service where people can complain, and I shall take all complaints seriously and Do something about it.

Correct any corrpution
Get the beneficiaries to payback.
Don't try to compete if Sabc dosen't have the funds
Reduce senior management / salaries

Then it is no longer a public broadcaster. Please tell us which countries in the World have done away with having a public broadcaster with a mandate to deliver on public broadcasting services?
 
Employ intelligent staff with genuine qualifications and a passion to succeed.

Fire all the relics and get fresh people in with new ideas
 
Ideally - Outsource operations. Make it a wholly owned subsidiary - or rather broke 2nd cousin - of MC.
Realistically - eish. Eish. EISH!!!! Around and around we go. Where it'll stop nobody knows.
Somewhere in the middle - Gupta's are out. So why not try some WMC? :p Kidding. *ducks* . Okay okay. Replace the darn board and CxO level.

Public broadcasters around the world are struggling. They, however, generally don't self inflict the pain. Key step - stop the self-inflicted pain. Follow the 'somewhere in the middle' plan. Top level goes.
