Hows 2010 plans going?

Not really. Only five stadia used for the Confederations Cup need to be ready by June 2009. The remaining stadia need only be complete by November 2009.

In that case then I'm very worried. I thought the whole set of stadia will be used during that tournament. Unless the five required are the ones being built from scratch then we might end up kicking off the world cup with just 5 stadia ready.

Erm why? They would obviously use the stadiums that are completed, and then with the extra 5 months the other stadia can be finished off

People are always looking for ways aspects to prove that the 2010 will fail.
As one of the leading contracters in the building of four of the stadia i can assure you that they are ahead of schedule. They will prob. be finished a few months before the expected dates.

Good.

I'm not one of the doubters. I thought it made sense to have all the stadia available for the
dress-rehearsal tournament especially the new ones. They can easily present Loftus, Ellis Park, Bloemfontein, Royal Ba***eng for that tournament but what does that prove? Those stadiums are ready today (almost)

//whatever is wrong with the word Baf0keng ???

It does make sense to have a dress rehearsal but FIFA requires stadia to be handed over January-March 2009 for the Confederations Cup. By that date none of the new stadia will be complete except for the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

The rest will be complete April-July 2009, while the stadia in Cape Town and Durban the most complex stadiums to construct will be complete October 2009 if not earlier in Durban's case.

2005 Confederations Cup Note: none of the 2006 FIFA WC final/semi-final venues were used.

I thought that the Gautrain project was not going to be bundled in the WC2010, and that the WC was not a motivator for the project.

So many conflicting stories.. I just wish they hurry up and have a awesome WC2010 and put the nay-sayers in their place.

It won't be finished by 2010. It was just a wish! Can't wait for it though!
