Hi all!

Hp compaq CQ61

I was busy searching on google, left the laptop an came back in 15mins..as i sat down i see it was all frozen up!

So restart it..but then the problem came :/ i boots and suddenly it's a blank screen..?!

the 1st screen isnt even the 1st screen showing memory ect..the screen just says there are problems and one could be battery being below is low..

so take the battery out and boot it..but same thing! just after that message it just goes black screen and stays there?

Please if anyone knows what to do please let me know!
thanks

What happen if you remove hard drive/SSB/Optical or any other ATA device?

Oky so it seems it's the hardrive..

Problem now is i installed it into my desktop to format and installe windows 7 again..but did that placed it back into the laptop then it tells me there is a missing bootmgr or something like that?but plug it into the desktop again it shows the drive and the files perfectely with no probs??

You attached it to your desktop and installed windows while attached to your desktop hardware?

HDD should be in laptop while windows are being installed...

Oky so formatted it..back in the laptop!

got the Installation CD in...but when it loads it gives me a blue screen ??..

but all before this it showed the drive as normal with no problems?!

what now :(

im sure it's not totally fried..there must be a program that checks and repairs a faulty HD ?

PLUS !

I know if im installing from scratch on a laptop i need to change my Bios settings on HDD to IDE/Compatibly mode

PROBLEM with that is there is NO such option ?!

You don't need compatibility mode when installing Windows from a scratch. Just install with an option to format partition. Use long format if doubt of drive condition.
If you original had HP resque DVD which comes with the laptop, you could restore original factory copy.

FIXED

placed the HDD in external casing..plugging it into my system, checking it for problems! and yip as i thought, bad sectors were the problem..

so got a program called HDD regenerator ..fixing those sectors/replacing them...

placed the HDD back into the laptop with a windows 7 DVD..formatting the drive again and installing .. :D no blue screen of death anymore .

windows completed the installation and before i knew it windows booted up normally with no problems!!

:D

I would keep checking the S.M.A.R.T. status on that drives. Usually with bad sectors it means the beginning of the end for the drive so keep your data backed up in a safe place.

There are many victims of HDD regenerator, maybe because it is advertised as data recovery utility. At least you didn't use it on the the disk with important data. +1 for SMART checking, also scan for delays (the only way to see when HDD starts dying).
