HP ProLiant MicroServer

Hi All

Just to let you know that we managed to get another 100 units in stock today , so place your orders as the other 199 units (1 x RMA) flew out of the door, According to my purchasing department they doubt we can get any more as this was cancellation from an export order that we managed to get our hands on

We also got some nice specials on Point of View Vga cards and also have the low profile vga brackets in stock.

I have one and use my harmony 650.
It works well to browse, play, pause, skip fast forward, etc.
I know people say it doesn't have the functionality of an mce remote but it works for me.

+1.
I am using the 600 on my downstairs and the 700 on upstairs. Not missing any functionality that I am aware of.

Great. Please check your email. I want another 2 * HP MS, 4 * LP brackets and 1 * GT520.

Hey all. Received the GT520 today. Installed it..slotted it in after fitting it with the low profile bracket that was included. Note that I had already installed Xbmcbuntu successfully on this machine yesterday using the onboard GFX card via pc monitor cable to my TV.

After connecting from the HDMI port on the GFX card to the TV and starting the PC the screen is blank. I am worried and hope that this is not a defective product. I removed the GFX card...ran via the onboard GFX card and its visible again. Note that everything is blank - I don't even see the BIOS using the GT520. I checked the BIOS using the onboard GFX card - the pc should automatically pick up the new GFX card right?

awesome
figured out the remote power on
it works to power on the hp but it doesnt work when shutting down
not sure if this is a hardware or software problem though
either way it makes little difference as you can navigate to the shutdown menu and power down from there

only need to figure out the type of connector the front panel uses
dont really want to cut any wires so was thinking of making a piggy back type of harness
in the meantime at least i know it does work

if i dont come right by the weekend ill just cut them lol

I just stripped sections of wire going to the power header and twisted the remote wires onto them.

I also find the power off doesn't work but I think that's cos you need to hold the power button down, and the remote doesn't transmit a continuous signal.

i just hate stripping
always take of more than i need to
;)

Wow video is fluid with Motionflow (100Mhz) on on 1080p mkvs :) Finally got the darn thing to work. Will be taking care of libraries tomorrow!

Okay, I am pleased to say my setup is now 100%.

Upstairs
HP MS
8 GB RAM (Up from 2GB as New RAM arrived today)
GT520 (Up from GT210 as new card arrived today)
Hooked up to a 4 * HDMI switch. Switch splits audio into a toslink output which goes to amp. HDMI output goes to an HD Projector displaying on a 120" screen.
Harmony 700
Cisco Gigabit switch

Downstairs
HP MS
4 GB RAM (Up from 2GB as I used the 2GB from upstairs to double up)
GT520 (Up from GT210 as new card arrived today)
Hooked up to a Samsung 46" (46D550)
Harmony 600
Asus Gigabit switch

Both machines running Windows 7 Ultimate.
Plex.exe (Plex Media Center) set as the windows shell (replaces explorer.exe). No more boot into windows. Boot straight into Plex.
The shell replacement only for the default login. If I need to do any work on the machines I switch user to an admin user and login as normal. Then reboot the machine to get everything flushed and back into Plex.

1080p movies now have no stuttering (as I had with the GT210). Flawless playback.
Harmony remotes work as I expect. Not missing any commands from what I expect. Plex fully operational via the remotes.

One happy chappy. Everything working really nicely.

Next project is a setup for my entertainment area. My girls are 15 and 16 and starting to have quite a few friends around. The entertainment area is the primary hangout.
Out there I currently have a 40" LCD and a WD TV Live. Hooked up to a 5.1 Technics (bought it 12 years ago and still going strong).
I am thinking about putting another HP MS out there with a similar config to what I have done already. They primarily listen to music out there though so may be overkill. The alternative is to build a touch screen jukebox. I have a 10.1" windows tablet that I am not using. Thinking about doing something with this for them. Not sure yet. Will probably end up going with an HP MS. *sigh*
I just need a new project :)
