HP ProLiant MicroServer

Have you tried accessing it via the xbmc Web interface? The remote brings my display back

I'll try this. Just find it funny that one has to power down/up to get it out of 'sleeping mode'.

Hi Guys

Got a strange problem here.

I have a samsung Blu ray player, which has 2 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI output.

So:
- HDMI-1 IN is my DSTV
- HDMI-2 IN is my HP Microserver

The HP Microserver has windows 7 Pro 64 bit with latest XBMC

The issue is this, when I have TV on and Blu Ray player on and im watching anything on XBMC the screen shows FULLSCREEN
however if I stop playback and change to HDMI-1 which is DSTV and then after a while I change back to HDMI-2 which is XBMC the XBMC is no longer in FULLSCREEN.

I have to maximize or ALT+ENTER to make it FULLSCREEN again

Why is this so?

I cannot figure this out.

ANy ideas here

eSquire still have quite a few of these HP Micro servers. R1149 Ex Vat
Saw the mall stacked on the floor when I was there today...

Sorry guys, is there any way to view one's sabnzbd downloads (running from the HP media box (openelec/XBMC) from work? I know from home its possible (through wifi).

You'd need to set up some kind of inbound NAT on your router at home, and a dynamic DNS entry. I would not do it. If you really need to know the status, get sabnzbd to email you once it's done downloading something.

Is it possible to do this? Pros/Cons...I'll setup the email as a stop gap in the mean time.

Well, anything exposed to the internet is a risk. You have no idea how secure the sabnzbd web server is...

I'm not sure how accessible your office pc is in respect of loading stuff, but I installed Hamachi vpn on my Proliant and work laptop to keep an eye on it.

Got mine set up as an Ubuntu 12.04 server, no gui.

I have my microservers running an SSH server on a non-standard port, and dialing their own pppoe connection out ( get their own external IP ).

I also have them hooked up to my no-ip account, so that I can use DNS to ssh in. ( eg microserver.no-ip.org )

Very handy :)

I see one has to pay for Hamachi

I just installed teamviewer..

Teamviewer is for free, cool. How do I go about setting it up? Should it be installed on both machines? Note openelec is linux.

OK I see Hamachi is also free, how do I go about connecting?

There's a free option as well, as long as you don't need more than 5 devices on your mesh network.

Yes you right, Elax, how do I go about using it?

You create yourself a login, and then create a network. Pick a mesh network and then the free option

Download the client to both pc's, with the linux client being at https://secure.logmein.com/welcome/labs/

On the linux box, you run:

sudo hamachi login
sudo hamachi set-nick HomeLinux
sudo hamachi join network-id
sudo hamachi do-join network-id

Not too sure on the last two. As I pulled this out of my bash history

Thanks, Elax, will try this!

Thanks for other suggestions folks...just looking for the least invasive solution (unless I can be convinced otherwise)

I'm not sure what OpenElec is based on, and I'm getting the idea it's a fairly minimalistic Linux, so not sure if everything else required is installed.

If it's ubuntu based, you'd need to at least do a sudo apt-get install lsb for some needed libraries.

Unlikely to work on openelec which runs on a read-only ramdisk type foundation...
