listen people, although OpenELEC is based on some sort of linux kernel, THERE IS NO LINUX OS.
There is nowhere to type in commands, there is no prompt, there is no nothing. XBMC is your OS.

:wtf:
Not correct. You can ssh into it. It also provides various web servers with plugins.
OK, so everything works with plugin, is there a plugin for my purposes?
:erm::erm:
yep. if you want to add something, you have to do it via the xbmc addon's.
Even the openelec and network settings, are in xbmc itself. (in the openelec addon)
All is editable via a simple ssh into the system. Those settings are just python scripts that in turn edit the linux os's config files.
What i'm explaining can be argued against via technicalities of what an OS is, but i'm speaking in laymen terms here.
All i'm saying is with OpenELEC there is no command prompt, start menu or windows - everything is installed via Addons.
The first and the last thing you will see when starting up OpenELEC is XBMC, there is no higher or lower level to go to.
The correct term would probably be to say XBMC is your shell. your one and only shell...![]()
Apart from bash
You just cant run bash on the console.
I tried that, hung up the machine.

Yes its the OLD 1 but still worth it if you can get it for that price... I paid a couple hundred more for those models... Only people with "contacts" at HP got it cheaper than that..
Ive got the old one. Nl36. I've got gt520 but stock 1gb ram. Running xbmc Ubuntu Eden. Usually have 800mgs ram free in nearly all conditions. 1080 playback is flawless.
