I grabbed this one from esquire and it's working 100% (ubuntu+xbmc)
:
VGA150932-D3-C VGA Point Of View PCI-E GT210 1GB DDR3 Processor clock speed 1000 MHz, Memory clock speed 589 MHz Retail Box 2 year Limit warranty 269.00

Thanks, Esquire Cpt did not have stock, but back-ordered one for me.

One thing though, the sales guy insisted it's not a LP card. You plugged one of these in the HP MS, right?

I would still recommend going for a Radeon HD5450 or a HD6450. Those are some powerful little cards, and will definitely fit the microserver.

I've heard cases where the GT210 doesn't actually fit and it ends up being a wste of money.

I have one of these Point of View cards in my htpc. It is a low profile card, however to my knowledge it does not come with a the low profile backplate.

the card is LP, there's just no LP bracket. Two different things.

Well - the 5450 seems to handle HD content fine in Win7 - watched two 15GB movies without issue.

For the guys looking for a low profile card for this server, try the Geforce 8400GS. Comes with a low profile bracket, has HDMI, and no fans. Got mine a couple of months ago for R399, might be even cheaper now. Perfect card for a media centre pc.

It'd be a huge mistake to use a 8400gs. It draws up to 71W under load, almost three times what's available on the motherboard.

Well what's the point of having the card if you don't have the LP bracket for it?
That was my point exactly - the guy from Esquire was probably referring to the bracket, not the card.

Anyways people, just use the LP bracket that comes with the server and make holes, it's easy, did it on Saturday.

Using? I have a dremel that might come in handy but honestly I haven't bothered because I'm not likely to ever be moving my server or tv and the card feels pretty secure already.

Has anyone looked at the GT520? Seems to fit all the criteria...

More powerful than the 5450 and GT220 and HD6450 ddr3 the HD6450 ddr5 is faster
29w TDP
Nvidia so linux drivers are better
actively cooled ones look like they'll definitely fit as well
does it come with a LP bracket... who knows...

I used a drill and a small iron-saw blade - and I didn't even need a LP bracket, gave it to a friend.

I bought an MSI GT220 over the weekend and it works 100%

It comes with a LP bracket in the box.

Still waiting for the ram and drives though so I have not yet done much with it.
