Was hardware acceleration working? I know to get it working on Ubuntu is a real pain
Hi Guys,
How would I access a USB drive on my system? It's an HP Proliant running XBMC on Openelec.
Also how can I go into my drives (4x2TB drives in the HP) and move folders around, rename files etc (a bit like what you would do in a Windows Explorer window)?
Thanks
No problems for me with Nvidia drivers on Ubuntu 12.04 (Normal Ubuntu with XBMC installed), ATI took a whole day to sort out.Normal Ubuntu builds on multiple machines? I gave up on getting Nvidia drivers working entirely. Openelec was not a problem at all though...
Plug it in. Go to system. Press down. File manager. Should be there. Copy/Move between left and right windows. Very basic.
You can use Windows explorer by browsing to the microserver ip address if you have another pc on the same network. Check ip at system info. Next to file manager or just press i from the main xbmc screen. Then from your pc running Windows, in the address bar or from run type e.g. \\192.168.0.111
Thank you - am still a relative newbie at this so some of the questions might seem quite "basic"
First part works fine - USB exploring
But trying to browse to the server from my PC is a nightmare - may do a re-install anytime now so hopefully that will fix it up...
How noisy is the proliant Microserver? I imagine it should run well as a MAME box...
Yeah, Hyperspin looks awesome! Now if only I could find an X-Arcade dual stick in SA![]()
No man, buy a Wireless XBox joypad - This is for a HTPC!
Not mineMine's for an upright arcade cabinet!
Yeah but playing console games while standing in front of a cabinet is just silly... console games are made for the couch.
In the long run I intend to have a cab purely for coin-op games, and then the rest on the HTPC in front of the TV.
I seriously can't imagine myself playing console games while standing up![]()
Installed a low profile pci-e sound card to get 5.1 surround sound to my sound system, as my TV doesn't have a optical out.
So far very impressed with the Asus Xonar DSX, which was a much cheaper option than getting HDMI switch with a optical out.

Spotted this today. Rii mini i8 keyboard. Looks like it could make a nice HTPC accessory. ~R400
