HP ProLiant MicroServer

Does anyone know what write speed the N40L 250GB HDD drive is ... ?

My thumbnails are super slow at loading and I'm thinking that's the reason?

^^^ Like wise!!!

I have a slight problem with the latest openelec builds compared to my current 2.0.0.. Where some of my artwork for my movies and TV shows take up to 15 seconds to load when I scroll through it...

Is there anyway to make the artwork appear any faster like it does in the 2.0.0 build?

I thought i was the only one, new build is damn laggy.
Thought it could be skins/themes but not the case.

I'm having issues with playback after v3+ installs of OpenELEC...

Playback is too fast by default. Don't know how fix.

I see some people are running xbmc on raspberry pi, and have it connected to a micro server. Why not run xbmc on the server?

Do you mean have the server output via HDMI to the LCD? If so then the server in a lounge area won't be optimal, factors like æsthetics, noise etc to consider. You want a server best to serve files, not run programs that could crash etc.

Hardware playback of 1080p video will depend on the particular server, but the Rpi's Videocore GPU does 1080p effortlessly. The CPU feels like a dog though, graphics primitives are not hardware accelerated via the GPU for now.

The micro server is quieter than the fans in my A/V cupboard.

Thanks Vis1/0N, that makes sense.. so then obviously, the server wont need the graphics card. How much mote ram will it need if its to serve 1080p files?

That's stupidly cheap!
