HP ProLiant MicroServer

I have an N40L currently running two 3TB WD red drives on W8pro. The system officially supports up to 2tb but I haven't had any problems.

I'm thinking of adding two 4TB WD red drives now but I'm wondering if these will run in the system. Rather not spend R5k to find out they're useless.

Anyone running 4TB drives already or can anyone think of a reason why they wouldn't work?

My only worry would be the power consumption.

I have 4x3TB drives running with no issues.

And after setting this thing up how exactly does it download the movies directly to the HTPC??? It doesnt make sense.. from the Tut it only seems like it downloads it to the PC and you'll have to stream it remotely?

we run couchpotato and the downloader ON the HTPC :D

Did you set it up on the HTPC or on your other PC?

I wanna set it up on my HTPC but all the tuts just lean towards the PC setup.... I'm so confused

.... Why the heck does everything always have to go go through a WEB GUI??? GAAAH!!! I'll see what I can do... I don't think I'll get this working anyways...

You will have to setup SABnzbd as well. In Couchpotato specify that SABnzbd will be your downloader. Within SABnzbd you set up which directories you want the movies downloaded to.

I now eventually got myself a HP Proliant

What is the best OS to use if i want to use XBMC? I tried Windows 8.1 but it doesn't work as expected. So I am busy installing windows 7.

I know this might have been asked before i did try to look but there is sooo much info :P

Windows 8 installs perfectly and is lightening quick. You can patch the ui to give you win 7 look and feel. Windows 7 requires drivers etc

Windows 7 works great. No need to fiddle to get everything working.

Busy setting up my third MicroServer now.
Got this one (N54L) at Esquire on the special (R1299 ex)
All mine are configured with Windows 7, XBMC and Plex.
One is for downloading (hooked up to our LCD TV).. that's where we watch movies the most.
The other one is set up to serve movies, and the third to serve TV shows.

The downloading one has a mini wireless mouse and keyboard that stay on the coffee table.
