Looks great. U sure it works with OpenELEC?

Also, how does it communicate with the HP ProLiant? Does it have a dongle? Does it work via blutooth or IR?

yep using it on my install
comes with those tiny logitech type usb adapters
dont think its bluetooth tho but it works from 2 bedrooms away
air mouse is a bit sensitive so I dont use it, but it does most operations without any hassles

just read the reviews now, one guy said it has a trackpad as well?
goes to check...

edit:
not sure what he was smoking but it does not have a trackpad

Was looking to upgrade my N54 to the T20, but the price changed suddenly back from R2599 to R3999.

Dammit, Should have gotten it while I could. I'm sure it will come back on special next month though.

Only 4 drives is a bit of a limitation for a NAS.

Are you saying in general or are you referring to the HP microserver or the Dell T20?

The T20 can take four 3.5" HDD and two 2.5" drives, you will need an additional sata controller card to add support for two additional drives as the T20 motherboard only has 4 SATA ports.

Yeah I was referring to the T20, and without adding addition SATA controllers.

I have six 3.5" HDDs in my Microserver without throwing any additional hardware at it.

What sort of stuff do you guys do with the server that you can't do on a normal pc?

Just curious to know what is the deal before I go and buy one just to have one

It's not that it is better than a normal PC.

It is just better suited for our HTPC needs.

Compact, efficient, customisable, etc...

Setting it up takes a bit of work. After that you leave it to do its own thing 24/7.

Give me scenarios what I can use it for.

I just need a solid reason/excuse to convince the so why we/I need it.

I use it exclusively for Kodi (XBMC). And all the other process that goes along with it which allowed me to cancel my DSTV.

If you need someone to convince you, you don't need one.

Currently have the TV connected to the AC Ryan wirelessly connected to the Internet and network, so accesses the series documentaries and movies from the pc.

I have the wireless devices doing the same and all of it connected to the surround sound.

Just trying to figure out what a microserver can add/offer.
