Thought these were cheap.

The only place I can find the low profile bracket is Uniterm Direct, I was hoping someone had a card leftover for when they sold their server, or if someone at least has a bracket for me I can buy the card from Takealot. The final option being just removing the bracket and using it as is but I don't want to do that.

So just picked up a gen 8 (impulse buy) I already have the N54. And was hoping you guys could highlight the major advantages. Trying to decide what to do with it.

I'm currently running openelec for front end xbmc and media file share. Seems like I should do more with the gen8. Maybe windows or full Linux is the way to go?

No, that's normal PCI, I need PCI Express, so this TP-LINK TG-3468 will work, but it only has the full sized bracket, which doesn't fit the server, I only need the little metal plate and I can use that one.
Ah. I bought a d link for R180 from Kalahari. But I see you're in Sasolburg. So even though I'd like to get rid of it, i think postage will outweigh any cost benefit you'll have.

Check one of these for a decent NIC :Winyao WYI350T PCIe X1 for R800. Dual GB Ethernet and uses up the 1x slot. Pretty nifty

Someone has asked about selling their N54L HP, GT210, extra 2GB (4GB total) and FLIRC IR receiver - no HDD.

What is fair?
R2,000?
Server 2nd hand R1500 to R1800
GT210 R300
2gb R300 but not with much for xbmc.
Flirc R200

So R2000 - R2500?

Hi guys just got a hp gen 8 micro sever. Looking to get a cheap graphics card with hdmi. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Also should i go for one with a fan? I will be streaming media through the network and not watching movies over the network. Budget would be about R400

What does that mean?

I'm guessing the same cards that work on the N54 will work on the gen 8. Imma check this weekend. I have both.

Sorry I meant I will be streaming through the network, not watching via the hdmi, anyways I managed to source a GeForce 210 low profile.

The problem I have now is that I purchased an ssd to connect via ODD but I can't seem to find a MX714 FDD to Sata power converter locally.
Is there anyone who knows where I can get this cable locally?

Is anyone running an ssd, if so what methods have you used to set this up?

Just installed Windows 7 64 bit in anticipation of the Windows 10 upgrade - but having an issue with gigabit ethernet.

I've installed no drivers, apart from what comes with Windows 7, and it picks up Broadcom Gigabit correctly.

However transfer is at 100mbps and another thread mentioned Device Manager and manually set speed. Problem is my options are 10, 100 and Auto.

Any idea at all?
