Hi guys, can anyone recommend a 8GB RAM stick for the Gen 8?

AFAIK it has to be DDR3 ECC Unbuffered.

I asked last week about my microserver PSU - but seems not that because it lights up . It's an N40L and the video of what it does is below.

I suspect dead CPU?

Light comes on and flashes, but no fan or anything. The logo is even a different colour and not the standard blue.

But what I actually want to know is where do I connect the Sata cable as I believe it doesn't boot from odd port 5 on the motherboard when connected there. This only applies to the gen8.

I haven't tried it like that yet as I haven't received it yet. But just want to know if it's possible to connect it in Port 5 in ahci mode. Will most likely just slot it in Bay 1 if it's not possible.

It could still be the PSU. Blown PSUs can sometimes still provide minimal power oe erratic power.

I had a similar issue. In my case it was the motherboard.

If you have a multi-meter there are a number of articles (via Google) that show one how to test the voltages on a PSU.

A new m/c is cheaper than HP for a replacement motherboard. Or a second-hand unit.

As soon as this broke, I bought a new Gen 8.

I just don't want to throw away as is... So either salvage something or spares or something else
