Guys, need help with a 4tb drive not being recognised in my N54L running Openelec. Drive used to be an external that I moved inside after wall mounting my TV & cleaning up all the cables. Thing is I did the exact same with a 2TB & 3TB external a while ago and they both just auto-everything-ed :)

Model: ATA ST4000DM000-1F21 (scsi)
Disk /dev/sdd: 4001GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/4096B
Partition Table: msdos
Disk Flags:

Number Start End Size Type File system Flags
1 1049kB 500GB 500GB primary boot

Looks to me like the server sees the drive as /dev/sdd but the partition size is off. Also blank where it should say file system ntfs, possible partition formatting conflict? My Linux is limited tho & not in the mood to take the drive out again to look at it in Windows tonite.

For the techies:

OpenELEC:~ # df -h | paste
http://sprunge.us/eIjH
OpenELEC:~ # parted -l | paste
http://sprunge.us/bMGi
OpenELEC:~ # dmesg | paste
http://sprunge.us/RLCM
OpenELEC:~ # mount | paste
http://sprunge.us/fQUL

There's an application called testdisk that will be able to scan for and discover the missing filesystem.

Just takes a while to run

I think they are the same company

Yes, it appears to be the same. The email sent when I registered says: "You may use this account on other websites that display the "ComX Computers login" logo ComX Computers, Laptop Direct, MecerPC."

I can get a Flex PSU like this, but I think it will have clearance issues. Going to take in my server with me tomorrow and see if it fits or not.

Seems there is no stock of these PSUs (just got an email from ComX) :( Any other I could try?

Sorry man, I don't know of any other suppliers, I struggled to just find that one.
But it shouldn't be too hard to match the specs.
I'm sure somebody will be along shortly to help us!

Anyone have any idea why booting from USB won't work?

I'm trying to run DBAN(http://www.dban.org/) to wipe a couple of disks, but it doesn't boot? Same USB device boots fine on my laptop.

I have checked that USB is the first device.

Maybe place an advert in classifieds and try get hold of someone with a damaged motherboard / CPU?

I was going to buy a new PSU too and someone came to me with a damaged motherboard/CPU and said I can take his old, which he'll fit for me, for R400.00

I have an NL54 that does not have a job right now....

I had some issues with USB ports (not sure if it was OS & driver related), but the rest seems fine.

Anyone interested?

Can anyone recommend a decent "reasonably priced" ssd drive for the server? I don't think I'll need more than 128gb... it'll run windows and various download management programs...and kodi... all storage is off system.

Can you guys play HEVC files, I have a GT210 inside and can't

Support for H.265/HVEC is only from the GT960 onwards, and the GT960 does not come in LP ...
Moving to H265/HVEC will probably also include me ditching the N54L for a custom build server.
