Worried it won't align with the SATA ports on the server.

Having tons of fun today - damn drive isn't detected by the server. Works fine in laptop.

EDIT - maybe its me - I can see it via the HP Server setup, but not in Windows setup

I remember something about changing the AHCI (?) setting in the BIOS.

Try that.

Try that. What version of Windows you installing. IIRC you can't install desktop OS.

Ok so we swapped my PSU with a friends working PSU and my N40L does the same thing - so FUBAR. I need to recover money from it for the replacement Gen8.

Is that N40L RAM compatible with Gen8? I've read About ECC RAM on it Gen8 but I recall someone replaced and it worked?

Negative. Major buffering - completely unwatchable. Server CPU went straight up to 100%.

When I did the research before buying I remember that it can be done, but just want to make sure.

I remember watching his videos on YT.

He's using a similar set up with an SSD as the boot drive.

@xrapidx maybe check out his YT vids if you still having issues.

Those are the drivers I was using.. maybe I have to do it exactly like that.

That's exactly what I thought would happen, my N40L served me great for years but I'm glad I upgraded when I saw the opportunity.
