Methinks my Gigabyte GeForce GT 610 has gone to a better place which has left my N54L in a spot of bother. What is the best low profile card that will fit? I see Takealot has MSI GeForce GT610 2GB for R909 http://www.takealot.com/msi-geforce-gt610-low-profile-graphics-card-2gb/PLID27963839 but I want to make sure it is the best bang for buck, will fit and can do justice to what is predominantly a Plex and Emby server. Are there more potent cards I should consider?

Any advice?

How did the old one die?
Not just the fan?

I posted that I had 3 of these fans go but the cards are ok. Not sure if one can easily replace or get heatsinks though

Came home from work one day and no signal to the monitor at all. Tried different cable and different monitor on the DVI port and nothing. Switched to the onboard video via VGA and I have signal.

Ah dead dead :(

I bought one of these from Enquire at around R900.00. Decent manufacturer and no fan!

Guys, I just want to confirm, can you install Win 7 64bit on the Gen8?

When I did the research before buying I remember that it can be done, but just want to make sure.
Yes, I'm running Win 7 64bit on my Gen8.

I saw someone else complained about these being loud - mine is definitely louder than the older generation - it sounds like a hard-drive going bad :p

Considering it has a fanless GPU, and SSD drive, I thought it'd be quieter... might need to put it in a cupboard

Strange - mine is quiet, especially with SSD and fanless?

On bootup, it does go to 100% fan speed and sounds like it's about to take off, but once booted it's quiet.

Just a heads up :

My N40L died, so I've taken to pulling apart. I've sold off the RAM and GPU, and now the PSU is up for grabs. This was tested before (CPU is the issue) - but as I say in the advert, you're more than welcome to test it yourself before paying.

Generally, if these go with a surge or something, you're looking at R600.00 or so non-HP and and an official HP is insane pricing equivalent to getting a new server. So may be a decent OEM spare
