HP ProLiant MicroServer

For openelec on HP micro server, use the generic build, I didn't use the OSS version and it runs perfectly, updating from 2.0 to 3.0 did not work properly for me, I suggest wiping the installation (use GParted live CD, full format of the drive/USB) and starting fresh if you have issues like extreme lagging and blank homescreens

I'm having an issue with 3.0.0 generic on my N40L - occasional audio dropouts on PCM audio... Seems to be a couple of people experiencing it. Maybe hold off on the upgrades.

@paultappan
Just used the standard configuration in the Bios, however I did use 4 drives.
Windowze had problems accessing the drives, but eventually used the drivers from AMD and that sorted out the access problems.

Take it nobody is going to help me... Swell, wasted a whole freaking day trying to get this POS to work!!!

The funny thing is it all works fine and dandy when theres nothing on it but after it full of **** it crashes every 2 minutes... YAY openelec I swear your **** just gets worse and worse with every new release!!

Install Windows 7.
Install XBMC.

Sit back and enjoy your entertainment with no driver issues.

There is no need for any normal person to use OSS.

Actually there is no need for anyone to use OSS, unless you are a ****ing hipster.

It's like treehugging in the technology world.

4GB RAM, Three 2TB HDD and one 1TB using HD Radeon 5540

Edit: Cant get my YAtse remote to work as wel!! Zeroconf is enabled as wel as all the other options... Very weird..

After first reboot mine worked. Also enable control over http (don't know if that's relevant).

HD5450. Everything went smoothly. Now to setup SABNZBD. Its been a while.

Flirc FTW!

Managed to find enough spare keys on my tv remote so I can use it for both.

Volume overlaps which works out quite well.

What would you suggest as an alternative then?

Still worth it, there is nothing else with the same size that can run the same things and have the same personal customization options.

Depends what you want out of it. Media center, I think there are a few options that have been thrown around on this thread. Backup storage, nas, downloading always on, all of the above then the equation starts to change.

Did you check elsewhere (cybernatic), maybe get the old spec at the old price.
