HP ProLiant MicroServer

Flirc. I have the Logitech 700. Flirc is best, but can be used with that as well, if you have multiple devices. Eventually sold the 700.

Agreed. Flirc is the cheapest and most simple solution. It just works.

There is no need to buy an expensive remote.
I bought one for 3$ on dealextreme.com about two years ago. I no longer used that remote, but I used it to learn the functions for my DSTV remote (PVR type on Wheel Mode C). Now I can turn on my TV, adjust TV volume and source, change DSTV channels, and control my HP N40L running XBMC all with the same remote.

Hello guys. Don't know what the cheapest is for microservers currently. I can get at R2199.. I'll order if I get enough interest.

What mode\remote type did you set the PVR remote to? I've gone through most of the types in the little booklet that comes with the PVR remote but I cant get the fast forward\rewind toggle working with FLirc

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, did a search here and on Google, but I'm not finding answers. Would there be any difference between live streaming on a HP Proliant Microserver with 4gig ram and a GT210 graphics card compared to a Raspberry Pi running OpenElec?

Hey all,

New Microserver adopter here, just bought my first HP ProLiant G7 N54L MicroServer.

I want to upgrade the memory, anyone used Adata DDR3 1333Mhz? It appears to be the cheapest 4GB from Pinnacle at R319.00 each.
Any other suggestions please?

N40L Mainboard

Does anyone know if it is possible to get second hand main boards for these machines ?

I have THREE that were given to me , but in all three there are problems with the M/B ( surge on the RJ45 )
PSU in all three is working 100% cases are like new.

Prepared to do a swop if anyone has some 100% working M/B/s ( can be repaired , second hand , overstock etc etc )

Alt -- , happy to purchase if price is right

Really need to get a decent NAS on the go !

Thanks

You can do al of that on one machine at the same time and use the other one as a NAS.
