If you have a iPhone or Android phone why not use the XBMC remote app. Works well if both the server and phone connect to the same wireless lan.

Apparently PS3 remotes work as well.
Which new smartphones are coming with IR transmitters? I remember seeing a post about cloning the DSTv remote.
You'd need a BT dongle wouldn't you? Not a bad idea as that remote is good.

Just ordered my N54L
Can anyone recommend a decent Remote that i can buy online. I see the Harmony remotes are not available anymore. Will be using XBMC. I found a lot of remotes for Windows Media Center - but would like to avoid using it if i can.

Don't want to shell out on a new monitor, only option is a sound card, but the ones I have seen (Asus - with low profile) are atleast R1k.
Some people have proposed a USB sound card, but don't see much of it available locally.
What options do I have?
Thanks
Hi All
Need assistance with a problem I have. Recently bought a HP N54L on special from Esquire, with intent to use as replacement for desktop pc that's out of date. Didn't think this through properly as the monitor I am connecting to doesn't have an HDMI port.
Also the microserver doesn't have a sound card so leaves me in a bit of a jam.

What graphics card did you add to it? Would be cheap to go from DVI-I to VGA with an adapter.Hi All

@unwired: So you have an HDMI graphics card in the N54?
If so, a cheaper route is this: http://www.hdcabling.co.za/hdmi-to-...ga-analogue-redwhite-or-35mm-audio-p-617.html
As Rocket-Boy said, the Microserver already has an onboard GFX. It isn't too bad, so give it a try before forking out on a new card.
As for the sound:

I put a similar one in on a Microserver which was to be used as a desktop PC.
