HP ProLiant MicroServer

Will that server be ok , for a small office, with 3 people, running windows 2003 as a file and print server?
Maybe with raid 1 for mirroring?

Just ordered mine :)

Had to call them, as I was also unable to 'select shipping option'.

5-7 days they say- what's it taken other CPT people before theirs were delivered?

Just took delivery of mine today. Ordered it on Thursday Morning. Not bad service at all.

EDIT: I am in Durban.

My 2Tb Samsung drive and Powercolor 6450 just arrived :). Will hopefully have this thing up and running by tonight!

I've enabled DDS artwork in the advanced settings XML of XBMC, as I hear it speeds up Browsing considerably...

has anyone done this and had success?
(I'm still waiting for xbmc to convert all my images as it only does it in the background.)

When browsing through my movie collection it's not as smooth as I would like it to be :(

Man, has anyone tried PseudoTV?

It turns your Media centre into a Virtual TV Station, where it picks up what series/movies you have and creates "virtual channels" for you
It also shows the TV Station name too!

I would highly recommend it it you have a lot of stuff available (and are like me where you sometimes don't know what to watch)

Just gave it a shot and just remembered why I hate TV, what I want to watch, when I want to watch, is never on :)

Also picked up one of those Esquire mini keyboards and prefer it over the remote.

true - but it's a nice feature if you just wanna play SOMETHING. you can still skip shows, rewind, etc.... :p

i've got 52 channels setup - my own CBS, Fox, Travel Channel, HBO, BBC, Comedy Central, Action Channel,
SyFy, etc,etc with a few Genre Specific channels (action channel, comedy channel, kids, etc)

i've even got a Pixar channel :D

Edit: You even get an EPG hehe

Got everything up and running last night.

Booted fine into Linux and got XBMC installed. Just need to get the ATI drivers installed and test 1080p.

Ok, got mine yesterday, now I need more ram. Anyone in CT selling 2 x 4gb's? Or know where I can get?

I know someone posted links earlier in the threads for online, but don't know which page, and don't want to browse through 61 pages again. ;) Would also prefer to buy from a shop (or person).

Quick question, Is it possible to Install Ubuntu onto a flash drive? Currently i have Ubuntu Live running on my flash drive.

Are these micro servers still available from the hpshop as the site says the product cannot be found?

Yes they are, just go to hpshop.co.za and under servers, select tower. You can then select the microserver from there.

I've just taken delivery of 2 more of these today, which I purchased from hpshop, placed the order yesterday and received them today.

hey guys - am I correct in thinking that with a DLNA tv such as the newer samsungs with allshare, you should be able to stream 1080p from the microserver (XBMC or WMP12) to the TV - without adding an extra graphics card or sound card?

Placed my order yesterday too. Just checked site again: http://www.hpshop.co.za/t-productnotfound.aspx :(

Was going to buy another. Will check back periodically though, this could return when they get more stock.
