!I bought 4 in the Esquire specials. Fourth still sealed in the box and have no use for it - yet.
NB: I followed the excellent instructions in http://www.tricksguide.com/setup-raid-with-amd-onboard-sata-controller-on-your-hp-microserver.html
I F10'd, then changed the 'AHCI' to 'RAID' in the 'Advanced' portion of the BIOS.
My first problem was that I was unable to 'Ctrl-F' to get to the Raid Configuration Menu.
On about the tenth try I succeeded and managed to configure the two new drives as a Raid pair.
Then the system won't boot: it always ended up in the Windows repair module.
Eventually, after breaking the Raid pairing and reverting to 'AHCI', I managed to reboot successfully.
I am not sure if it means anything, but when I went to the the boot sequence menu I noticed that the boot drive was now identified as 'RAID', though this is probably due to the BIOS not allowing one to flag drive types individually.
Any suggestions most greatfully accepted.
Doesn't look like it right now.. I'm looking/waitingGosh I'd even take a second hand one for 1k
If you are still looking for a second hand one, I am selling my N40L. A few months old, in perfect working condition. Still got all the original stuff, boxes/manuals etc so it's like new. Selling it as I am going back to my popcornhour. My TV does not have an overscan/pc setting option - so parts of my image was being cut-off. Did not have the patience to try and work through it on my lounge TV as the image was perfect on my second/third TV's in the bedrooms.
Will sell for R1000.00. Shipping to CPT would cost R69.00 and take 2-3 days.
Also have a low profile Gigabyte Nvidia 520 and a vantec external sound card for it which I can sell separately too.
Can someone help me out here. My server at the office died today, and I am trying to replace it with my spare Microservercry

I am trying to install XP onto my microserver, but I'm not winning. I am trying to use XP because thats the licence I have.
It goes thru the install process until I have to select a drive to install to, but it does not see the hdd.
I have tried installing from ODD and from a flash drive. (I doubt it makes a difference tho)
Are there drivers or something I need to use for the installation to see the disk?

XBMC allows you to readjust for any overscan in the software?

Can you connect a USB HDD to the internal USB port? I know that USB flash drives work. Reason I ask is I have a Western Digital 2.5" 1TB that has a broken case, there is no SATA connections (USB controller soldered on) so would like to stick that in the N40L somehow when I get it on Thursday.
