As far as I'm concerned, speed is definitely going to suffer as a result of all the connections alking to each other. There was a unit recenly sold by HI-FI Corp - WiFi/HSDPA Router. Can't unfortunately remember the price.

At the 'relative low' data rates of mobile comms (<10Mb/s), you'll probably not see a major impact in routing this way.
Personally I stay away from WiFi as much as possible, probably the most overrated technology in a long time. I'm the proud owner of a large number of WiFi AP's, amplifiers, cell extenders, etc. and still have not found a stable solution. The joys of working in an unlicensed band....
My 3G router is LAN connected and as stable as can be.

1 - Purchase this USB wi-fi network card that can run in peer to peer mode.
2 - Plug that card into the notebook and configure it for peer-to-peer mode.
3 - Now your cell phone and other devices can see that network card as an access point.
4 - Now configure internet connection sharing to share your HSDPA connection through that USB wi-fi connection.
Done.
Problems/Dangers:
1 - What is the working range of this USB-Network card? I'd estimate about 20 metres max simply cos of the tiny size of the thing.
2 - Will microsoft's internet connection sharing work?

You can take your laptop and the cell phone to the shop with you and test it before you buy it.

yes it does, but im afraid i can only connect to networks and not create one, as a router would let meDoes your notebook have a Wireless network card installed?

It's not so much the size thing, as multiple AP's could resolve that.
It's more the inherent unreliability. I have an AP in my office. I can spit at it (and often do), it's so close. Yet I loose connectivity multiple times per day to it. Although D-Link seems to be the worst, other brands do the same.
Typical WiFi indoor range is probably 10 meters, bluetooth around 3......

before i buy it, im confused: how would u create a WEP key if the AP connects via the LAN port?
50-100M is ok for indoor use - but this all depends on the "environment" the unit will be used in, as stated there.
Now I'm confused too
The router connects to a LAN port on your PC. You then enter like 10.0.0.2 or whatever in your case into your browser (FF/FF2/IE). You are then able to set up the router (settings and whatnot) this way. Somewhere in there you will be able to set up the WEP key. This is what you will probably have to enter on your N95 too to be able to access the AP.
