no i dont know anyone with wifi, wlan, or anything that concerns my problem. i hoped that one of you did.
v3g said that he has few APs, hopefuly he will tell me if i can just connect the TrendNet AP to my Laptop via RJ45, share my HSDPA on the control panel, and work.
Where is he when we need him...

I've been watching this thread to see if someone posts a solution for you. I think you can do what you want but it's probably easier to talk it through than try and post it all.

i did this for one user:

laptop with e620 card - used the network connection shortcut (called vodacom) *99***8# or something for number with no u/p as per normal..

i then turned InternetConnectionSharing on the XP notebook's vodacom shortcut - thus dgw/dns is 192.168.0.1 for all receiving devices.

bought him next a linksys WRT54GL (under R600 from www.dbg.co.za)- flashed with ddwrt 23sp2 firmware - upped the tx to 100mW...

so now he uses his N95 to connect via the linksys AP - gets an IP of 192.168.0.x - and surfing works purrrrfectly

I was rather impressed with the price of R525 for the WRT54GL at dbg.co.za. That is until I saw that the price excluded vat (Not allowed by the way, Uniterm Direct). PCMall has it for a few Rands cheaper.

make SURE that ics does work.. then u can alter the ICS ip like 10.0.0.1

the only thing that does get unstable is the DHCP - but u can then enter 10.0.0.1 or whatever into dgw and dns - works 200%

so static IP's then do work 100%

My experience with Windoze ICS, is that it fixes the ICS gateway IP address to 192.168.0.1.

like i said - make sure that u initially establish ICS working on 192.168.0.1 platform - then u can alter the host IP

Believe you, we probably never tried the method to first set it up with 192.168.x.x and then to move the IP.....

I did try that back in the day when I still used Windoze 2000, it didn't work with anything other than 192.168.0.1.

I haven't needed Windoze ICS since switching to Linux, so cannot say whether it's possible in Windoze heXPee, and certainly don't have the energy or inclination to try it in Windoze Vista.

I have done it before...
on my dell laptop when i had vista business installed it allowed me to use the built in wifi card to create a "hotspot" and i connected this hotspot via my N95...
something like this...dont remember the details but i did definitely do it whilst playing around....in fact i did something else to...i connected my N95 to the dell via bluetooth >>went online using the N95 as a modem then created the hotspot and my cousin used his laptop to access my otspot which was running off my internal builtin wifi card...

when i changed to XP (half my programs did not run on vista) i tried it again and cannot find any similar options

i bought that Wireless AP from Trendnet, connected it to the laptop, shared my internet connection, tried it with my N95, connected perfectly and same with the N800. Two problems:
Cant connect with a laptop;
Cant change security settings in browser.
Any clue of what the problem is?
