HTC Desire Android Gingerbread upgrade in SA is uncertain

Just go to wiki.cyanogenmod.com and follow the bravo instructions.
My Desire has been on Gingerbread for 6+mo now.

Just one more reason to stick to my half eaten apple, lol.

Problem is the partitioned ROM

512MB ROM should be enough.

The problem is that HTC has partition the Desire ROM.
250MB /system
40MB /cache
147MB /data
Balance is for Radio and HBOOT.

This is the same as partitioning you PC drive into C: and D:
Your free space is not shared, and you run out in one of the partitions.

They could fix this by re-partitioning the ROM - requires an updated HBOOT.
Perhaps the should combine /cache and /data and reduce /system.
On my device /system is not full - a lot of the built in apps (eg gmail, maps) are now in /data - which is where most users run out of space.

Stripping some of the junk is always good.

See alpharev.nl for details on alternate partition tables.

This is the primary reason why I don't want to go Android on anything other than a Nexus - where you get your updates from Google as soon as they are available (And a year before anybody else).

It just doesn't make Sense (hehe).

Anyone know when the Gingerbread OTA upgrade wil be available for the Desire Z and Desire HD for Vodacom subscribers? It was also promised for May/June this year.

Any news on the HTC Desire 2.3 OTA release on Vodacom/MTN ????
