HTC DESIRE HD

This pulling out the battery phase is very disturbing ... I have had to do it a couple of times myself but that was cos I am messing around with custom ROMs and some don't play well ...

I have not had to do it during normal operations

Do you guys also experience the issue of not being able to download apps more lately? It download but can't save. I always forget to unmount SD card first. My first real gripe. Don't want to have to unmount first.

Hey Shads ... Did you manage to fix this ??? I am curious as to what was causing the problem ...

Howzit, looking for any suggestions as to why my gmail accounts are not syncing and no push email. Background data is ticked and so is auto sync. Any ideas don't feel like removing the account yet.

Damn, I was hoping someone else would do this, cos I don't have the strength, but here goes :

average battery life : 2 days

apps running : WhatsApp, Facebook, MyBroadband, Engadget, News24, Messages, GMail, HTC Sense, Weather. I'm using Gmail to sync 3 mail accounts, calender & contacts.

I honestly believe that not all the batteries are the same. I know that they are supposed to be but there are definitely ones that perform better than others. A lot of reading on the XDA developers forums have confirmed this IMHO. I am in the same boat as you.

Try using the power control widget. Turning sync off and in sometimes sorts out the issue. However it may be a problem with Gmail itself, make sure your email notifications are properly set up in the Gmail app as it doesn't fall under the sync section in settings.

Hi roldstar, will explain tomorrow.

Just got back from Long Street and a bit pissed.

Didn't get it fixed. But read that it is a problem with android 2.2. It doesn't do it with all applications, just some. Not really a huge issue - just a small annoyance.

I don't get more than 1 day from my battery. But my phone is in my hands 24/7! I play a lot of Dynamite fishing :)

I don't have email on my phone. Yesterday was the first day that I didn't play games at night - and my battery bar is almost full - today will be my 2nd day. So I abuse my poor phone.

Hi peeps

Does anyone have an idea of whether there is Desire HD stock available at the moment? 2Days ago MTN had 3 on their system, but I have not received anyting yet... :-(

So, kingrob, I checked out your Sennheiser earphones. They weren't to my liking, and still had no remote functionality bar the answer call. It seems our trusting HDs have a shortfall! :(

Googling around I found this:

http://www.htcdesirehdforum.com/htc...e-your-own-headphones-gr8-success-at-last!!!/

Think the way forward might have to be to chop the stock phones and replace them with my old (in-ear)ones. I cannot understand why people still make/sell/buy/use the old earphones.

The sound isolating properties of in-ear sets allows you to use lower volume to achieve the same listening experience. Better for your ears.

My Nokia remote+old phones combo doesn't even play sound correctly, never mind the lack of functionality. HTC borked this one... :(

WhatsApp kills battery life hectically

WhatsApp kills battery life hectically

Not in my experience...

Just quietly runs in the background. What counts as hectically? TBH, I have barely noticed any affect at all.

What would kill battery is using the program all the time- but then that's the screen...

I'm not sure, if I leave it in the background its fine, but I can kill my battery in half a day with medium whatsapp usage, you're right it might be the screen but then I use twitter on my phone more than I use whatsapp and I don't have a problem

Learnt to live with it though

Is MTN still having supply problems on these? i want to take mine in for a minor repair to the screen, but if i'm going to wait months for a replacement i'd rather hang on a bit till they have stock.

Damn! Really thought you'd like them.

I picked the Sennheiser earbuds for the sound quality and to be able to answer calls when listening to music, but everyone is different, so what sounds great to me, might not be your cup of tea.

You can also check out Skullcandy, not sure if it's available in SA, but have only heard good things about it.
