HTC DESIRE HD

Just for the record, since I started this thread, I shud get the first Desire HD :)

the only REAL issue with this phone is the battery (since we actually do want the big screen).

so to sort that out, get yourself one of these :)

edit... btw, their after sales service is awesome! got myself one of these in the UK, when I got back in SA it wasent workin so well. So I contacted them and they replied immediately, saying I should courier it back to them in China. I thought... WHAT! But they paid all shipping cost (account with DHL), and I got a new one in just 8 days :)

I'm always by my computer/laptop so battery wont be an issue for me

Same here + I've got an USB car charger as well. Sorted!

I'm used to this, my iPhone 3G doesn't last longer than a day & I just put it in its cradle when I go to bed. What's the big deal?

Maybe we were too used to long battery life for dumbphones running days into week.

My thoughts as well...somehow people still expect the charge-my-phone-once-a-week battery life from their smartphones, which is simply not gonna happen if you use it regularly.

Let's face it, modern smartphones have a 1Ghz CPU, 512MB RAM, 16GB storage....doesn't it sound more like a computer than a phone?

"Dumb phones" didn't have 3G, didn't do web browsing, didn't do push email, argh....the list goes on.

Just wait till your smartphone is a year old... then we'll see battery times of 6 - 8 hours (If that!)

Hey i don't mind waiting to see if the battery life increases but i want my phone yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

My iPhone 3G is two years & two months old now....and I still get a full day's use out of it. :)

*I regularly let the battery discharge completely, so might be why it's so good. Gonna do exactly the same with my Desire HD.

This phone is taking way too long, but I have just seen that it IS on the Vodacom website! :wtf:
I am shocked, as I dont think the normal Desire ever appeared on their website, nor can I actually see it now, but the DHD is there! :D

The 1st Gen snapdragon found on the Evo or Incredible are based on 65nm architecture. the 2nd Gen found on the Desire HD and (T-Mobile) myTouch 4G are based on 45nm tech. which is one of the reasons why i think HTC thought that they could get away with a battery smaller than 1500 mAh.

Guys just take a look at how much this phone costs obviously HTC had to cut some corners but for the amount of money you're paying i think its all worth it.

this thread is an interesting read if you're bored ;)

Where is it on their website? can we order it from them now?

yeah, I just realized that it is only on the help.vodacom.co.za site and not the vodacom site, which I guess means, it cannot be ordered at this time?
