HTC DESIRE HD

Just found the worst bug of this firmware update....if someone phones you & you miss the call, the screen will stay on till you switch it off again.

It might have to do with the fact that my display is set to not switch off after X seconds or minutes, cos I hate it when Im using details/ notes on the phone and the screen constantly switches off.

Didnt do this with 2.2 & if I leave the phone somewhere while doing other stuff, I will get back to a phone with a drained battery. How cool is that? :wtf:

Just MC'd myself, my screen off is 15s, and the notice went screen off at the correct time, no problems for me there. Also havent experienced any slowdowns or app breaks on my install, so guess i'm lucky

Edit.
I did find that VISIONary+ hangs trying to temproot. (I dont feel the need to root the phone but do sometimes need to elevate root privilages on some apps. (Wondering why Android can't just utilise the same principle as a linux PC, give a popup to enter a root password when certain apps need the privilage, with the option to drop all privilages when done.)

Is it just me or is this new 2.3 update heavier on the E juice?

Blame the manufacturers, Use Gingerbreak... problem is if you got a protected boot your root will only last till you reboot. Only way to fix that is roll back then root and use a custom rom to upgrade.

I need help to find a pouch, silicon glove and leather belt pouch for my DHD.

My hometown is to small to carry the products, so my sister said she will have a look in the Alberton area.

Any suggestions? she said she can go to The Glenn also.

Thanks

Anyone notice if you go to www.htcsense.com South Africa is completely removed?

I logged a dispute with ASA regarding HTCsense not working as advertised, Leaf responded to them saying it does work - I have now sent screenshots showing it doesn't work... I'll see what happens... the ability to track and erase my phone without any real 3rd party app was a big selling point to me, as I constantly misplace my phone.

Thanks for the information. Being a new user, I been trying everything to get htcsense to work, now I understand why. Please post if (and when) htcsense is working again.

I still have trouble synchronising my google contacts. My calendar is synchronising nicely. Will have search for an answer.

if this thread http://www.androidza.co.za/new-htcsense-com-services/ is anything to go by, the usage I get out of HTCSense is equal to being able to log in...
I haven't seen any real use for the site at present.

Also, the Middle-East and Africa site referer (https://www.htcsense.com/mea-en/#) has disappeared, all I get now is the one screen with a google-map in top left corner, and the options to lock, erase, or forward calls n sms and to let it ring loud...

My location is presently accurate though, sortof, using the a-gps setting on my phone so its triangulating my position in re the towers around me, it shows me on the other side of a main street, in the next suburb... I am able to set a lock phone message and pin as well, and could probably forward calls and sms and probably erase my phone too. But haven't tested that.

But I cant access smsses or contacts stored or sync footprints etc etc etc. It seems from the androidza thread abovementioned, that we are missing a CRAP-LOAD of features

BTW, can anyone tell me if it would be usefull to have the OTA_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE-AFK_2_36_421_10-1_38_421_1_release_187926q3m3l9kral1cb1w7.zip file that downloaded when I updated my phone?

I dunno if I should just delete it or keep it? It has folders in the directory for META-INF, patch, system, fotaBoot, and firmware.zip (android-info.txt, boot.img, hboot_7230_Ace_0.85.0024_110411.nb0, radio.img, rcdata.img, recovery.img)

Is this stuff in some way usefull?

I had a look at a YouTube video, showing HTC Sense 3.0 stuttering/running on the Desire HD.....looks nice, but I can now see that dual-core phones will usher in a new generation of software & apps for smartphones.

Bit sad that I won't see Sense 3.0 on my Desire HD, but since I'm due for an upgrade on my Vodacom contract, I might just put in an order for the Evo 3D when it becomes available. :D

I was actually thinking of waiting for the HTC Holiday but the EVO 3D seems just as good

I am a total 3D freak, so there is no other choice for me. :)

You should be wary of wanting phones specifically marketed for the USA.

Most of them end up being CDMA devices with WiMax/LTE radios, (well to be fair the thunderbolt is the only notable LTE phone). (when i say most of them, i mean ALL smartphones on Verizon/Sprint)

T-Mobile and AT&T uses GSM networks

Its the reason why HTC felt compelled to make the Desire HD which is essentially a redone Evo 4G for the world.

But youre in Luck, HTC are making a GSM version of the Evo 3D :D. Expect the Holiday and Sensation to hit SA shores since they run on GSM.

She has been sitting at her desk all day patiently waiting for your e-mail.

Actually no, she was snapped at Apple's Palo Alto iStore in the USA today. Looks like she is a jetsetter. :)

*I really hope this means that we'll be getting HTC stores in the future. Now that would be very nice!

Hopefully someone can help here. I upgraded to gingerbread.

When my wifi is on I can only make calls using SIP. I have changed the settings under /settings/call to use internet calling/ask for each call. It makes no difference!
Maybe I am being doff, but when i click call on a contact I am only given the choice of SIP. sigh

I havnt tried this but it sounds like your phone wants to initiate a WiFi calling (which is possible in Europe if your GSM signal is low)

Dont know what the fix may be, have you tried googling?
