HTC DESIRE HD

I need help to find a pouch, silicon glove and leather belt pouch for my DHD.

My hometown is to small to carry the products, so my sister said she will have a look in the Alberton area.

Any suggestions? she said she can go to The Glenn also.

Thanks

Ebay is the answer, i shopped around locally for a while and found nothing and nothing that i was willing to pay R200+ for. Ebay came through cheap and reliable as always. Paid a little under R200 for 2hard covers, 1 soft silicone cover and 10x screen protector film. What a deal. Quality aint bad either.

Can I use my 5gb Cell C sim card on my Desire HD

I've been wondering If it's possible to use my Cell C sim card for internet on my Desire HD. If possible what are the APN settings?

I bought a 5 GB sim for my DHD and works like a dream. You can top it up with normal Cell C airtime for pay as you go calls and have 5 gig of data a month for your phone to munch on. No apn settings needed, just insert the sim and off you go. But in case you need to switch to it manually (happens when you swap out sim cards a lot) just goto

Settings --> Wireless & networks --> Mobile Networks --> Access point Names and select Cell C Internet from the list

Oh and I bought my phone from Vodacom.

I havnt tried this but it sounds like your phone wants to initiate a WiFi calling (which is possible in Europe if your GSM signal is low)

Dont know what the fix may be, have you tried googling?

Looks like you cannot have more than two ways to call a contact. I had a sip program called csipsimple that i use for voip. Once I upgraded to gingerbread it came with the android sip program which is ****e - can only make calls over wifi and not 3g...limited support for codecs etc. The fix was to uncheck the setting in csipsimple for dialer intergration. - which is a poor fix anyway...

Now to work out how i can remove the android sip or to allow a larger dialer choice...

Does anybody know where to get a stand or docking station for the HD?
Thanks

Just over a month ago I took the leap and installed MIUI rom. I was amazed at the smoothness and battery life. Then I heard, a week later that HTC had released the 2.3 update. I downloaded the .exe file and installed.... It was a sad day. Nothing seemed like I remembered sence (only thing I missed about sence was the Agenda widget). I played around with it for about a week and decided to get back to MIUI. That was a mission that took me a few days. First you need to downgrade.... well long story short. I am now on MIUI with Android 2.3.4 (support for google maps 3D), couldn't be happier. Battery last 4 days (2.5 on heavy usage). I get weekly updates. And no sence.

You will be glad to know HTC just announced that they will not lock bootloaders anymore, so for people like us it wont be a hassle to get that rom we want on the phones anymore.

This announcement likely only applies to future HTC devices, though I’ll be excited to hear if HTC will be retroactively providing unlocked bootloaders on current HTC phones.

Anyone looking for skins, cases, docks etc. just have a look at what "www.take2.co.za" have to offer. Im not an agent or a share holder, but quite loyal as I've been buying DVD's from them since forever (coz of good prices and great delivery). I found very nice leather flipcase and screen protector for both DHD and Wildfire there at great prices and fast delivery!

Meanwhile... Just to get my 2 cents in concerning the recently debated GB-update...

I also got the message for the firmware-update just on Wednesday-eve this week. Obviously I was ecstatic, but immediatly turned to MyBroadband to see what the reaction in general was, before pressing the install button. I must say I was concerned at some of your comments but in the end after taking everything into consideration I decided to take the plunge (thinking in the back of my mind that "if all else fails, I can always ROOT...")!

So... the verdict? I'm kinda impressed!!

I kinda like the fact that All Apps scroll in "blocks" and dont just keep scrolling forever... I kinda like the fact that I have the extra "quick settings" tab in the android drop-down box from Home Screen... I kinda like the fact that the time-counter for setting alarms/calender etc now scroll and stop in 15min increments... But what I like most, and I say this with much respect to senior members, is that even though I dont check numbers and CPU performances to judge actual speed etc. my DHD is actually now faster in response and performance than what it was on Froyo... And I have my wife (who is a complete idiot when it comes to these kinda things) to confirm that...

So there! That's my 2 cents. I must say I didnt see much change with the update and luckily didnt have any mess-upps with music folders, phonebooks, system restarts etc., but the few changes I did encounter was appreciated and the improvement in performance almost gave me a hardon! (Ok, It kinda did... ;-))

I have to agree with you, although many people on MyBB are having problems, I saw no issues on xda forums or the likes. the occasional "my app doesnt work on gb" complaint is universal to all gb phones.

Oh and I had my phone on complete idle for 3 days (never used my phone since i was studying for exams and stuff) and on the 3rd day at 11am i had to recharge my device as it was on 7% battery i found this rather nice. (about 60hours of batt i calculated)

anyways i am used to my GB phone now, so no rolling back for me

Gingerbread did bring some positives to the table, most importantly the battery life that's better.

My music folders are still a mess & I don't have the strength to try and sort it out, so I just left it there and don't bother with it anymore.

Web browsing is faster on the built-in webkit browser & I managed to solve the problem with the Go button for Internet Banking on Standard Bank's web site. You need to magnify the internet banking block & the Go button is hidden underneath another button. If you tap the edge of it, it will take you through to online banking.

The grid scrolling is irritating as hell, cos if it's a app in the top right corner, you need to tap it with your other hand. Very inconvenient when you're holding a computer mouse in your one hand.

I'm still using the Desire HD, but already eying the HTC Evo 3D. :)

I have none of those scrolling issues with launcherpro installed. My scrolling is very smooth :)

Picked my phone up this morning and it almost freeze my hand. That's how you know it's not a plastic phone. :D
