HTC DESIRE HD

If I remember correctly, it should restore you to after you installed GB.
Did you try removing your battery and putting it back? If so, I don't see another way than reset.

havent really kept up with the thread over last month but does anyone know
if we getting icecream for the DHD?

There should be an option in settings to reset, otherwise power off....power-on while holding Vol-. Then choose factory reset.

Would this reset just the current OS/Software, or do I have to re-install all other programmes / games? Will all my pictures still be safe?

So I done the reset. Same as before, still no Wi-Fi & PC connectivity.

I feel I must just take the phone into Vodacom and let them sort it out. But I know they will come back with all sorts of excuses like the phone has water damage so warrantee is void, or i see you dropped your phone so the warrantee is void, etc.

I got my phone for about a year and a half now. The people that have their DHD's for over a year, what keyboard have you find to be great with the Diesire HD.
I have jump between Swype and the "Hackers Keyboard" and tried a few others but keep on coming back to this 2. There is still time where even they make me angry, typing one thing and getting something else. Keyboard opinions???

EDIT: 3 more weeks before ICS, right?

Edit: There are loads of unofficial themes available on XDA as well.

I have now had my phone for about 18 months. The first year was bliss with the phone just pretty much doing whatever I wanted it to do (longer battery life, any app that I needed/wanted on it etc.). For the last 6 months my phone has been absolute pain to live with. For the record - no harsh damage to the phone (fell of the bedside cabinet once onto a soft carpet about 15cm down). For the last six months I have experienced a range of issues some at the same time some individually. Wonder if any of you guys have been having the following issues:
- Random signal drops and then a phone restart (including battery removal needed) to get it working again
>I have replaced the little sim cover as someone suggested that may be the problem. No go
- Phone randomly restarts itself for no reason. Sometimes in my pocket/on table or while in a call
- Answering calls from a locked screen hangs the phone, battery removal required (known problem on other forums. No perfect solution yet. For some removing link to facebook from contacts solves the issues)
- Battery lasts for about 4 hours (have replaced it twice, once with original HTC battery and once with long life battery organised through someone) problem persists
- Random contacts disappear from time to time (only figured this out when I wanted to call someone in the morning that I spoke to the previous night from a phone contact and it wasn't there)
- SD Card filesystem corruption (on my third card now, first one I replaced because I thought the issue was with it, second one completely fubar) third one has now on more than one occasion gotten corrupt where a windows fs scan fortunately fixed the problem. I am thinking this may be due to the phone hanging. So a symptom not a cause.

Oh yes. Have done factory reset on phone. Problems from above still persist.

Those are just the ones that I can think of currently. Wanted to upgrade my phone to a custom ICS rom but decided against it as we should apparently get the OTA update sometime in July. Should that not resolve the problem I am considering switching to a fashion accessory (iPhone *spit*) as people say it's generally reliable and you get about two days worth of battery out of it. Have been looking at the Samsung Galaxy S3 as well but at the moment not feeling too cool about android phones.

I'm on a custom MIUI ROM and install a new one every now and again. I tried the ICS roms out there a few times, but they still have bugs that should be sorted soon with the official one launching next month.
I haven't experienced any issues like yours. But maybe the ICS release next month will fix it for you.

EDIT: to go custom ROM or not? Well, thats something you'll have to decide yourself, but IMO, some of the custom ROM's is very stable and fix problems like lagging and battery life. So I would say that I think it will kick new life in your phone.

Have you tried MIUI v4?

Sorry back at a PC so can answer you now.

What you explaining sound a lot like the problems I had with my original Desire ie: Hardware. Have you tried sending it in for repairs?

What I would do 1st is to do a Factory reset to confirm that its not some app you installed? If that doesnt work send it in to get looked at as that is in no way normal, not even for stock.

On custom ROM's
Best one I found to date is MIUI, all the other ICS builds have issues with either camera or bluetooth not working, in some cases both. As for normal Gingerbread ROMs there is a couple that look nice esp the ones with Sense 3.5+ on them. I have tried many but always found myself returning to MIUI. In fact its so bad that I have an Xperia S lying on my desk(not in use) because of MIUI.

Also I would not recommend rooting and flashing it before you had your phone sorted, as it can make things worse if you phone decide to die halfway through a flash.
