Cool!, just in time for my upgrade. I hope MTN don't have stupid conditions like a stupid selection of data contracts tied to it.
 
can't wait, I was due for an upgrade 2 weeks ago but I'm waiting for this phone. Does anyone know about a waiting list or something like that?
 
I contacted MTN in Gateway. They don't have a list yet, but I made them start one and my name is right on top! :)
 
If it helps you the camera on the Desire sucks balls...

Don't remind me! I think I'm the most confused I've ever been. I really liked the Desire HD since I read up on it, but when I heard the release date is still a couple of months away, I decided to get the Nokia N8 - since the camera is unbelievable!

Now I heard that it is coming to SA first / second week of November. So I might just as well wait. I'll miss out on the camera, but that's ok. I just think the Desire HD is the best overall phone for me. I think we should swap phones for a week :)

It really would be ideal to test the phones for a week before buying!

It definitely does boil down to what you value most in a phone. If I think about my usage I realise why I lean so heavily in favour of the phone with the exceptional camera. I use my phone for the following, in order of most used :

Calls
Messages
Alarm
Photos
Some web browsing
GPS
And then other things like daily weather forecasts etc
With an FM transmitter I'm sure I'd use it for music a lot more too.

Now the camera is even used by me to "scan" documents for work. I'll photograph them and then print to pdf if I do not have a scanner handy. For me having got used to a xenon flash a phone with anything less would just feel like a step backwards.
 
Would be nice if they dont screw up on stock AGAIN... I need a new one desperately... Vodacom PLEASE!
 
The Desire is going to be awesome! The phone to have! And the price is way lower thn expected! Can't wait! I WANT ONE NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
I just looked at the other prices. HTC Desire is cheaper thn the Samsung, iPhone 4 and Nokia N8. And in my opinion, the Desire HD is the best! I don't mind!
 
I see that MTN has removed the price of the Desire hd as well as the Nokia N8 from their site. Ah well, the wait continues :(
 
HTC Desire HD was R249 for anytime 100, Nokia N8 and Samsung Galaxy anytime 100 for R279.
 
WOW! those prices are really competitive

im getting the HD

Why is the HD cheaper than the normal Desire according to MTN's price list?
