HTC DESIRE HD

Yup, just spoke to Nashua Mobile upgrades as well. They definitely have stock of the DHD but couldn't give me a price for my Vodacom Top Up 315 contract. Consultant said I should call on December 7th when Vodacom's new prices and specials come out.

My upgrade is due on Jan 1st but no pre-ordering unfortunately. Although, the consultant did advise that they would be open until at least midday on the 1st (and all public holidays). Not sure how accurate this little titbit of information is, but I guess we shall see.

Well I phoned VodacomDirect today to place an order". Unfortunately the sales person was very clueless, and I made sure to emphasize the "HD" (hope i emphasized enough :erm: ) ... but any way, she took down all my details and said that she would give me a call as soon as there is any information.

She did however say they have different deals and specials to vodacom, so I am hoping that is in my favour. Also she said that sometimes they get the deal sheets after and sometimes they get them before the other vodacom outlets, so I am hoping before :p

Other than that, I am getting really excited now!!! :D

I'm still waiting for MTN to phone me back or reply via email. Which makes me worry, cos so many people are saying they will never go MTN again & this looks like proof of what they're saying.

So rather gonna get the phone through Vodacom and give MTN the middle finger.

My sister arrived back in SA this morning so I am now the proud owner of one brand spanking new Desire HD. It's my first Android phone so I'm probably ooh-ing and aah-ing over features that's old hat to everyone else.

Haven't had the time to test it out properly either but I am already hoping to get hold of a cover and screen protection for it soon. I'm super nervous about getting it scratched.

What I *did* notice was how I couldn't stop telling my sister how much more awesome my phone is than her iPhone, though.

So....the R100m question....how is the screen of the Desire HD???
 
I was at Nashua Mobile yesterday ... The consultant said that they have stock at the warehouse ... and since my contract was up for renewal, they were going to order it for me ...
I should be getting it in the next day or 2 ... fingers crossed ...

It's big (and took a little bit of time getting used to as it's kind of big in my hand) and I was originally disappointed that it wasn't an AMOLED screen but I'm going to compare it with a friend's Desire screen side by side today.

Stayed up all night fiddling with the settings trying to figure out how to get that HTC Sense working but as far as they're concerned, my phone is in the Atlantic Ocean just above the Equator (as by Default). It just isn't finding my phone...will give it another bash later today when I have time.
 
Sigh ... i walked into mtn yesterday and they have the phone on system and everything they just wont upgrade
me cause they dont know they gonna have stock ... then i took a stroll over to Vodacom and the dewd didnt
even know what the DHD was ... why is it that im running into so many idiots suddenly???

The people at the MTN & Vodashops does not care. It's just a temp job, till they can find something better.

Not all of them, but that is the general perception.

and Kingrob i agree with u, it really does feel like they dont give a crap as long as they
get paid for doing nothing and go home.

MTN just phoned me about the upgrade I booked yesterday on the Ayoba web site. Two day response time....looks like MTN is picking up the pace. :p

They are now officially out of stock and awaiting new shipments yet to be hijacked.
 
Guys Im starting to give up hope here! If the UK doesnt have enough stock then how the hell is SA ever gonna have stock. If they only get 10 phones at a time and those all go to the guys who do the upgrades on the internet and its 2 weeks between each stock delivery it just gets rediculous to even think when the shops are gonna have stock!! Dont mean to be negative but I'm a realist.

Yeah, I pinned my hope & trust on my local MTN shop (they didn't deliver) & then tried MTN Retentions (who also didn't deliver).

Think I'll see the year out with my iPhone 3G and look at videos of the Desire HD on YouTube, cos that's the closest I'm gonna get to one. :sick:
