HTC DESIRE HD

In PE so getting around 200+ ms, its not to bad for co-op, on Deathmatch I have to be more carefull as they have the lead, still smoke plenty of people. Also the times I play its not to bad about 2/3 till 5 in the morning

Fortunately everyone's playing it on 3G or wifi, so less chance of a LPB smoking everybody all the time. :)

Can anyone tell me whether the HTC Desire HD is still available on the TopUp 100 contract at MTN for 250ish rand?

I know that it was on special during the month of May but I'm unable to upgrade until the end of this month.

Actually supposed to be R100 pm on topup 100.. just took 1 out recently and one for my brother...

I've just realised that my wifi is useless on my DHD. I'm sitting at my parents house for Sunday lunch and my sis and dad both have iPhones. They pick up the neighbours wifi with 2 bars. I don't get anything unless I move right next to the house.

Anyone else also realise the wifi sucks on the DHD?

I am experiencing the same problem. With my laptop I do get reception if I move to the dining room (15m from router), but my DHD have no reception in the dining room.

I've found as soon as my hand covers the side panel it dies... its also terrible in my house... I have two access points on either side of the house, and it struggles.

My phone has the same wireless range as my little 13" Sony Laptop (other side of my house from the Wireless unit)

so i picked up my DHD last friday. super excited! i ripped open the box and proceeded to almost break the phone to remove the battery and antenna covers!! i managed to crack the antenna cover down the centre and the battery cover has scratches on it. did anyone else battle with these?? besides that, the phone phone is pure AWESOMENESS!!!!! it came with Android 2.3.3 installed and it runs extremely well! i am super pleased with it.

ps. anyone have a spare antenna cover for sale?? or know where i can get one ASAP at a decent price?

Hey rocketracer, congrats on the phone. Good choice there.

I had some issues with my battery cover and I lost my antenna cover on the 2nd day I had it. I went to Leaf and they gave me a new one for free which was pretty cool of them. I guess you could contact them. Also try lab88. Vodashops and such wont have antenna covers.

R100pm where'd you get it, I honestly would not mind getting one as I am due for upgrade at the moment.

Got it at the mtn located in our office building.. might be for corporate contracts only but the guy says it should come up for 100 in stores as well

Sent from my Desire HD using MyBroadband Android App

I discovered something and tested it with a friend. Maybe you guys know this already.
I phoned my friend, DHD to DHD, and talked to him for 4minutes. All this over edge, using Google Talk to Google Talk. And it barely used any data (just a little).
So what do you think, is this free calling??

I don't know where you got yours but my Google talk is text chat only?

Google's VoIP is called Google Voice and that is not available outside USA yet.

Okay, try this. Open Google Talk on your phone. Tap on your account at the top. On the drop down menu, tick "Allow video and voice chats". And try to phone someone. It really works. Just phoned my wife with this as well.

Don't have that option and on the latest version?

I'm on MIUI rom, don't know if that makes a difference. Anyway, I took three screenshots, hope this helps.

Shouldn't. I'm on a Sense ROM on an old Desire and I've used my phone to (voice) chat to my wife at work over WiFi via Google Talk.

Do take into account that all the cellular service providers have fine print in their contracts that allow them to charge you obscene amounts for VOIP traffic, though.

OK I have this on my Old Desire(CM7) and Wildfire(Stock), Both bought in NZ .... DHD is via Vodacom and no Voice option.... I think the basteds have something to do with this?

Oh well I use Skype all the time so never really bothered me.

I'm on vodacom Family top-up. Fixed amount. Buy my data seperately. I've monitored the data usage and my amount (in rands) availible. And find no money gone off and very little of my bundle used for my voice chat calls (three so far). Maybe the stock has limitations and Rooted not?? Or vodacom/mtn/cellc has a block on the stock.

Well, my stock rom's (2.3.3) gtalk also doesn't have the video & voice chat option.
I guess as it's part of core, you can't even update it via market, though I assume you could update it if someone posted an apk of it somewhere.
