HTC DESIRE HD

You can also do so using ADB command
Something like reboot recovery somesuch..

Found this Sense based ICS rom that works on DesireHD:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1531218

I'm about to try it now.

And how is it? I am keen to install it but it hasn't got great comments about its latest version, version 5.
Let me know... Am really keen to install it. Need a few good reviews, and if I get one from a South African user, I'd overwhelmed to install it.

Everything seems to work, UI is much more fluid than it was before (previously had MIUI ICS version)
The only issue I have now is that the call quality sounds worse than before. I'm guessing they screwed up with that Beats audio feature they ported from the later Desires

Has anyone installed the JellyTime ROM on their DesireHD? Curious to know some local feedback about it.

Been using it since Beta 9. Works well, no issues that really affect me (currently running R8, have downloaded R12 but I see R14 will be out tomorrow so will load that).

My stock DHD is now acting up again. A few months ago HTC replaced the motherboard? The problem now is the wi-fi keeps disconnecting and when on 3G (mobile network) I get network errors when loading web pages. I have sufficient data.

Currently enjoying Android 4.2.1, the Cyanogenmod 10.1 ROM. My DHD is 2 years old next month and still going strong. Don't think I'll be upgrading now. Think I'll change my contract to pre-paid until I really need a upgrade and then I'll change service providers too (go Cell-C or MTN).
Best phone ever...

Not an official Cyanogenmod 10.1 ROM but does look promising.

Looks stable enough. Think I might as well take the leap.

Dude, I was on JellyTime for a few months now and moved over to this one last week and I tell you......not one problem. Excelent ROM.

I monitored Jellytime but it was being updated too regularly and was managed by 1 guy so I decided to delay rooting my phone while waiting for a good ROM.

OK I just took the leap. Glad I did. Jellybean is sooooo much better than Gingerbread.

It feels like I bought myself a brand new phone. :)

Thanks for the heads up on that ROM.

Just for interest sake, people still using their Desire HD's (Like me). What will your next phone be?

I am waiting for the announcement for the new HTC M7, but yesterday I stumbled upon the Sony Xperia Z. Any thoughts?

Hey Diabolix. My Desire HD contract expires this month. I purchased a Google Nexus 4 with cash and plan to get another phone on my contract so that I can sell to reduce my Nexus 4 costs (R6k for it, I know..) But I hope I can get a good phone off my contract and sell it at R5k brand new still sealed. since I sold my DHD for R1500 I would actually come out well off of R500

Can you inform me on the M7?

If I did not have this Nexus 4 I would probably wait out a little bit. The current phones now do not excite me or are 4-6months old March-May is usually when HTC and Samsung announce their new flagships. June-August is when Apple announce their new flagship. Keyword here is announce, put 1-2months ontop of that for the devices to hit SA.

Been using Jellytime for a couple months now. Love the ROM, tried a couple others in between, but kept going back to JellyTime. Only my battery life really sucks, phone last half a day, but I think its my battery, not the ROM

Also looking at the Xperia Z, my upgrade is only in March, so still have some time. Don't think I'll get another HTC, maybe in a few years if popularity picks up again due to the fact that ROM development will be sucky if the phones don't sell well.

I've decided I'm going to stick with a popular handset so that in two years when my contract expires, I'll still be running the latest android version using custom ROMs.

I'm really doubtful if a Sony flagship has ever been more popular than an HTC flagship. Remember HTC is at a far away second place to Samsung in Android atm IIRC. HTC is choppy when it comes to updates but Sony is just worse.

Apart from the processor I think the new phones aren't that far ahead in spec and look and feel if you root your DHD. Manufacturers are also releasing new flagship model every 9 months and prices in SA can be insane e.g S3 so I don't feel the urge to change yet.

I am going to wait for a quad core, 13 mega pixel, 5 " 1024 screen, dual sim phone. Will see what gets released in SA later this year.
