HTC One X

Just thought I'd mention that I was in duty free at OR Tambo this week and there is a shop called CAMI technology I think, something like that.

They sell the One X for R5 999. I think that's a bit cheaper than average..

Update on my situation:
Went to mtn, on the last of my 7 days. Made a rookie error of taking everything except the charger which was still plugged in at home. So I told the Salesman he can grab the charger from the new box. Apparently that can't be done as I have to return my accessories, he would not even let me bring the charger the next day. So I had to rush back get the charger and they exchanged my phone, I asked for one with a serial number which started with HT25.. all of those were white though and I ended up with another HT24... Because their system would only allow exchange for the same colour.

I showed I them the article and said I don't want to exchange my phone every week after I have already set it up.

The resolution is that if this phone has the issue, I will be terminating the upgrade, if I have to do that I will probably wait for better deals and join another network when my contact runs over the full 24 months.

Called Vodacom head sales office today. They will have stock of the OneX on Thursday. But think can't go directly to a store to get it, still have to contact the head office/sales. Anyone had a chance to compare OneX to S3? Vodacom is pricing them the same on the topup 315 (per minute billing) contract.

I'll wait another week or so, dont want anything previous to a 26i S/N (18th day of June 2012, date when they initiated the fix), so will make sure I get a 27 S/N (2 = 2012, and 7 = July), just to be sure I get a 'corrected' one...

More importantly does voda have stock of the WHITE one x?

Thanks for this info. You think SA will get the 27 S/N within a weeks time?

Ran over to vodaworld and they had received stock so completed my upgrade finally. They only seemed to have the black one x which I am typing on now. Only took 15 minutes to set everything up. So far it's amazing!

27S/N will be those manufactured in July (the 7 denotes 7th month of the year), the fix was only 'implemented' from about the 18th June by HTC, so S/N XX26i, but to make sure I'll wait a few weeks and get a S/N 27 in mid July...don't want to battle with the wifi issue... and the problem is that the fault usually occurs after a few weeks (i.e after the 14 days return period) which means that it will be 'sent away for repairs' which in my experience is a nightmare, and especially when its related to something as important as the wifi (& 3G) antenna...nope I'll give it a few weeks before I upgrade.

great stuff
did you test if you have the wifi issue?

I got a replacement model, no WiFi issues, but I am worried that the problem creeps in after my exchange period.
Mtn would not terminate my upgrade unless I received another faulty phone.

glad you got a working one .what color btw?
what is the exchange period with mtn?

Just checked on our launch memo...we only have one stock code loaded on the system and the colour linked to that is "grey" or black I guess.

No word on availability of white.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm actually kinda over this waiting stuff now... When it was launched (a quarter of a year ago) I was excited about it, then there were battery life issues, then they were fixed and now theres wifi issues, and thats apparently fixed in newly manufactured stuff. Oh and the S3 came out with a slower clocked cpu that kills it in benchmarks and is thinner with a (bigger) removable battery and sd card...
Think I might just downgrade contract and go on month to month and get a bigger data bundle and buy a second hand s2 now.

So why not just go for the S3 instead?

Sorry to hear you guys are having a hard time. I got my S3 this week and as far as I can tell it's incredible. Can't think of one complaint.

Just hate the looks of it :p It looks better in person than internet pics but still dont like it.
