HTC Sensation or Galaxy s2

Watch and read reviews (especially the links I posted above... they are quite good). See what performs better and what most people are preferring. Samsung performs better and has an amazing screen and is not plagued by death grips.

What phone do you have now? I'm sure that both the Samsung and the Sensation will have better battery life than whatever you have now. So however busy your day is now, both phones will last long enough to still order take-a-way after your busy day.
 
But in a lot of ways, the Sensation isn't good enough to compete against Samsung's flagship, the Galaxy S II, which is faster, thinner, and lighter than the Sensation. That said, with the Sensation you get the highest level of build quality available on any smarpthone, you get HTC's latest Sense interface, and you get a crisp qHD display. In the end, the discerning smartphone buyer will have to decide which factors matter most. Anyone that buys a Sensation will be very pleased.

The screen on the Galaxy is just millions of miles better than anything I've seen, including the Sensation. The Sensation suffers from lots of reflection in sunlight and it apprears too bright. The S2 on the other hand is simply breathtaking from any angle, and even in sunlight. The colours are incredibly vivid and crisp... true to nature. Sensation looks very dull in comparison.

I have a HTC Touch Diamond 2 running a custom ROM from XDA. But fortunately, it's upgrade time. I'd really like an Android but there's nothing jumping up at me saying "Get me" at the moment. I'm thinking maybe Desire Z, or even the plain Desire (really well priced). Otherwise I have to wait until the S2 and Sensation hit our shores. If nothing else they'll drive down the price of the Desire HD. The other, probably cheapest, option is to go for a BB 9780.

The reviews that I have watched says that the they perform the same, Samsung only wins on benchmarks. Regarding the screen, I also would prefer the oled screen, but I have a HD2 atm, and I love my current screen, the Sensation's resolution is better and all the reviews says that that makes reading web pages and thing like that easier and its more clear. So, 1 plus for the Samsung, but also 1 plus for the Sensation regarding screens.

That's a blatant lie. Every review I have seen shows that the Samsung is better. Go and watch the review I posted and see. That extra bit of resolution does not make a difference. The browsing is smoother and faster on the Samsung and the text is very crisp.

Have you personally worked with both (or even either) of these phones?
 
The Samsung will have better internals but I am looking forward to a premium feeling device that's not made of plastic and most importantly has good local support in terms of updates.

Still I feel like we are comparing Ferrari to Lamborghini here. There really isnt a bad bad choice here.

Good point. I guess the thinking is just if you're spending this much on a phone you want the absolute best.

EDIT: Another factor which we're all neglecting (ignoring) is the price. If the HTC comes out at R1000 cheaper than the Samsung that'll change a lot too.

That's bollocks. That's not a review. Nowhere else has anyone ever mentioned what they do. If it was so obvious, I would have seen it in all the other billions of reviews I have seen. My gut feeling is that they are HTC fanboiz. Go check out the two videos I posted earlier. Furthermore, go read the comments on that "review". It will confirm what I said earlier - it's bollocks. Anyway. Each to his own. You are more than welcome to spend your money on something that gives you less bang for buck :)

I would go for HTC Sensation.

I dont like Samsung much anymore, they take for ages to patch their phones to newest Android. HTC is much faster with that.

Main disadvantages

Serious "death grip" issue with Wi-Fi radio
Less than impressed with the screen's outdoor performance
Performance not quite as convincing as other dual-cores
No dedicated camera key
microSD is under the battery cover
No unibody construction as advertised


That was already evident for a while.

I'm really surprised that the HTC Sensation does so poorly in benchmarks, since it's a dual-core smartphone. I think they are getting around 2100. That's quite weak, since the HTC Desire got better results than that. The Galaxy SII is getting 3300. Quite a difference.
 
Okay, went through the review. It just confirmed everything I've been saying all along :) The only thing that the Sensation has that is better than the S2, is the Sense UI. Everything else, the Samsung Galaxy S2 beats it quite comprehensively.
 
I just don't get how they say that in benchmarks the performance isn't on par with other phones but the actual phone is still snappy and responsive with no lag and delay in menus etc. If that's the case how would having a faster GPU make a difference? Or are there programs/apps that'll come out later that'll be all slow and unresponsive?

Not true anymore. Take the galaxy s. 2.3.4 has just been leaked and will be released shortly. The only other device running 2.3.4 is the nexus s. It took a while for 2.2 to come out for the galaxy s but since then samsung has been very quick to release updates.
