HTC Touch Diamond

I am selling brand new HTC Touch Diamonds for R7200 as well as a WHOLE bunch of other phones. Ordered only upon request. PM me.

Toouch Diamond

Confession: Bought a Touch Diamond last Saturday.
Man, I love this device ... it's soo thin, which is why the TyTN II is for sale (I don't use the keyboard on the Kaiser).
It pulls cell better than the Kaiser, and wifi and 3G/HSDPA seems stable - was online by bluetooth PAN to laptop for a few hours on Sunday. Rock solid, no dropped link.
And .. wait for it .. the GPS can be set to any COM port so other apps can use it, unlike the Kaiser, which needs specific support. Fished out an old HandyMap 2004 Pro with SA and USA maps, and it works! (it wouldn't on the Kaiser).
The magnetic stylus latch is nifty, and sliding out the stylus opens Note when in a call.
I'e always used the SPB apps on my previous WM PDAs, but this time I'm sticking with TouchFlow. It seems pretty good and performance of the device is acceptable but slower than I'd like.
My one gripe: non-standard audio jack in miniUSB a la other recent HTCs.
Bonus gripe: Can't take an 8GB microSD. Stuck with 4GB internal.
Final non-gripe moan: Should have an FM transmitter to talk to the car radio.

From Leaf's shop.
Battery life isn't great - it's a tiny battery. Haven't really measured, but it does seem to run dry pretty quickly. It's connected to the Vista PC all day.
I've of course read the XDA-developers forums extensively and am well aware of the various ROM issues people are moaning about, but this hasn't materially impacted me in any way. I'll wait for an official updated ROM from HTC (assuming such a thing will eventually appear). So far the device is stable and hasn't needed a reset. Have used wifi, 3G, BT, camera and GPS and all work fine.
Device info:
ROM Version: 1.37.421.3 WWE
ROM Date: 18 June 2008
Radio version: 1.00.25.03
Protocol version: 52.26a.25.09H

@ Arthur

Please post an update of how the phone has performed so far, especially battery-wise, usability, problems, etc.

I got one yay!!!!!!!:D
Comes in a chinese bowl shape box hehehe.
Open it later.......... or now:p

got delivered this morning, 5*, brilliant device, battery is disappointing(dock comes with extra battery, still waiting on that.), 3g reception not so good compared to my old v360.

just installed MS remote desktop 3.0 and hooked it up to my wifi. that is out of this world, now running full vista on this device, and seems smooth also.

gps with google earth mobile also works nicely.

syncs nicely, music, contacts, outlook, onenote everything was on the devive before i even wanted to add them myself

looking for a high quality text to speech app tho.

Post a pic?

Have mine abt 3 weeks now, and really love it. So much improvement over my previous P3600i (similar to TytnII minus kbrd). The vga scrn is simply stunning & together with Htc's Opera implementation I can actually use my phone for an acceptable web browsing experience for the very first time! Battery life nowhere as gud as the p3600i but I get abt 1-1.5 day before it shuts dwn - I'm a light user tho. Luckily HTC just released an extended life battery which includes a suitable diamond replacemnt back cover.
Touchflo 3d is really impressive, altho not as fast as it shld be - even the xda developers reg tweaks did'nt speed it up sufficiently. I eagerly await the romupdate that addresses this issue.
By the way, u dont have to use the touchwheel to zoom. Simply make the circular gesture anywhere on the scrn to zoom that part of the image - really cool!
I find the ring volume to be a bit soft & the built in loudspkr clearly inferior to my previous phone - not terrible but just not great, tending towards tinny-sounding.
RDS FM radio implementation is well done, just it wont let u use it unless headphone is plugged in cos it's the antenna, altho u can then still choose to output the sound thru the speaker. But this means u cant play radio with device on charge cos headphne also uses the mini-usb charge socket.
A big diff betwn the Tytns & this Diamond is it was made to be used using just one hand with selectable finger sized kbrd as well - as a result i rarely use the stylus - which is great since the new generation of htc stylii break far too easily, despite their glitzy looks.
Fromthe earlest Ipaq phones I've been an HTC user, but this is definitely their best WM phone yet, for sure! The pricing is actually not that expensive - it's our currency that's the problem.
