HTC Touch Pro 2 (Fortress)

I'm looking for a lightweight ROM that won't keep stuff running in the background when I switch to Android. I'll just have to deal with the battery problems when running Android. It is just so much better.. gives the phone a new lease of life. There is no WinMo ROM that can compare - in terms of usability, speed etc. Though it is a tough one, I need everything to work so have to choose what to give up. If only the battery life was 1 day .. since the phone really flies in Android when overclocked to 700MHz

The good folks at XDA have created a ROM sepcifically for this:

Do not download this ROM to use as a regular Windows phone. It has NOTHING in it but drivers and 21889. It’s almost useless, for anything but booting android.

I was amazed at the how much better my performance was without threaded SMS and TF3D. SPB Mobile Shell is a paid for app but even if you choose to just use Titanium, which comes with Windows 6.5, you'll notice an improvement. Plus there's a whole lot of add-ons and tweaks for Titanium as well, just to add some functionality to make things easier

So, how's the PT2s going? Mines still going strong, although it is showing its age...full of scratches and cracks, but working 100%.

I've been trying to get a screen protector from lab88 now for months to no avail, anywhere else I can try in JHB?
 
Mine is going good too. Been messing with Android ports but nothing that's quite stable enough yet.
I use a full body Invisible Shield on mine - it's a mission to put it on but nearly two years later, I have not a single scratch.

It started picking up a lot of dust on the corners after a year of going in and out of my pocket, but I complained to Zagg and got a free replacement :)

OK, back to the question at hand...

Mine is still going strong with only a couple of small scratches on the underside and a couple of small places on the screen bevel where the silver came off.

I'm not using a screen protector or phone cover at all - it goes everywhere naked (even into my bike's top box).

I used to use the phone a LOT (email, browsing, RSS feeds, photos, music and even as a phone). This all changed about 1.5 months ago when I bought a Galaxy Tab. Now it's only a phone.

For the last couple of years I've always gone for the phone that can do everything. This changed since I now have a Galaxy Tab that performs all the other non-phone stuff very well.

I'm quite impressed with Android but I think I will most likely end up with some or other Windows Phone 7 device.

As a consumer it would mostly be for the Xbox stuff (some of which is still vapourware). As a business owner it would be for the Exchange, Office Live and SharePoint integration.

The other reason is that I've been a full-on M$ developer (fan-boy if you like) for many, many, many years and the prospect of developing a nice Silverlight application for windows phone is something I cannot ignore.

I do however know which phones I will not get and that is a Blackberry or an iPhone. I have nothing against the devices or even the OS's. It's the company's I don't like. Maybe I'm cutting my nose off to spite my face, but I just don't like the way they do business and I'll get very claustrophobic in their closed environments.
 
As Murphy would have it, my touch screen stopped working this morning...I already did a hard reset out of desperation, but it did not help. Now the phone is stuck on the start-up screen where you try the on-screen keyboard, and I can not get passed it!

Any suggestions? I'm very close to booting it out the window....
